Picked up a Marlin 1894 in .44 mag. Serial number has it placed around 1981 date of manufacture. Got her for around $500. Here's what she looked like coming from the auction.

And here's what she looks like after a bit of TLC...

She cleaned up real good. Now she joins her sisters in the safe - Marlin 1895G .45/70 (top), Marlin 1894 .44 mag (middle), Winchester 94AE .357 mag (bottom)

Collection is almost complete. Now I just need a pre-Remlin .30-30 and either a Henry .22 or a Marlin 39A(?).

    God I love lever-actions...

It's a funny thing - this obsession with lever rifles.

Even though they're an anachronism I can't help but be drawn to them. Maybe it's in their inherent slimness, or light weight. Maybe it's in their perfect point of balance or how easily they're carried in the field (held by the receiver like God intended all rifles to be held). Or maybe it's because they've been ingrained in all my childhood memories through watching Sunday morning westerns like Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Maverick, The Virginian, Bonanza, Big Valley, etc.

Their silhouettes represent the image of a true rifle to me in all of it's faded glory...

Nice. I too have a love affair with the lever. Great guns. These are my "other kids"

    One of these days I will have; 9445, 9444, and a 94410

My Holy Grail lever gun is a Winchester Trapper (16" barrel) in .45 Colt, angle-eject and no cross-bolt safety.

How much you willing to pay? I see them quite often and would be more than willing to help a fellow aficionado attain his goal.

    ETA: I am a Winchester snob, I won't own a cross-bolt safety model.

Trick question, isn't it? You have one for sale, don't 'cha? Seriously, it would depend on the condition, age (newer is not necessarily better), and I'd take a top-eject really isn't a deal breaker. I'd have to see one (at least a pic) to determine what I'd offer.

I like the Marlins also (do they call them "Remlins" now?). I've heard they are not as high a quality as they were before Rem. bought them but nothing really definitive. Marlins have always been noted as being stout (kinda' like Rugers).
