I wonder if the Navy Yard shooting will have any impact on attendance or prices. So far I'm not sensing the anti-gun hysteria that we got after Sandy Hook. I still expect ammo to be too high. We'll see.

Gander Mountain at Hwy. 151/IH410 in SA had loads of ammo yesterday (17th) around lunchtime...didn't see any panic buying. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

All those folks that loaded up during the panic just in case there was a ban, they're broke and Christmas is coming.

Plus, the great majority of them are people who normally wouldn't have bought an AR/AK style weapon on a regular day. That being so, those same people are not going to jump back in and buy more of the same less then a year later.

What's this Christmas thing? I see it all over the various boards.

I don't save money for Christmas. Bah humbug.

If they want a gift, they will have to bust their A$$, just like I do for ammo.

So far the Washington Navy Yard has had ZERO effect on gun and ammo demand. (The demented shooter was not a white guy).

A local gun shop suckered a radio station news department to air his opinion ... "gun sales are up by 40% this week already, and ammo has completely dried up."

That fellow was just trying to drum up more business, but sure was stupid saying he could sell you a gun with no ammo.

Last show wasn't very good, that said, I'll probably go and try to pick up something cool from individuals walking around selling stuff.. that, and the really nice ammo can guy are about the only draw to that show anymore. just my .02

After having gone to the San Antonio shows for years I was disappointed by my first Austin show.

I went today around noon. It was pretty slow. I was glad to see AJC back - they haven't been at the last couple of shows and I thought they might have dropped out.

It seemed like a fairly typical Austin Saxet show to me. I've never been to the one in SA so I don't know how it compares to that, but I've never really had a problem with Saxet. Premier is better but I like that we have both. Pretty much all the gun prices are back to normal except for AK's; ammo still has a ways to go and I'm starting to think that this may be the new normal.

I had some unexpected bills come up earlier in the month so I was strictly browsing today, but I did see some decent deals on things I've had on the short list for a while. A Kahr CW45 for $350, several Ruger SR45's in the $390 range, and several Ruger SR1911's in the mid $600's. I even saw a 9mm Shield for just over $400.

One thing I've noticed lately is that more and more tables are not putting prices on their items. I've gotten to where I pretty much just pass over those. I hate asking and getting sucked into the "well what do you want to pay?" nonsense.
