    OK so, I recently acquired this rifle, I have no idea what it is, I cant find any information on it other than it is a W. Jacot rifle. I am unsure of its value or significance in history. I was hoping someone on here could shine some light on this firearm for me :) Thanks!

    It's a percussion cap side by side Shotgun, probably late 1800s going off of the technology availability, but the presence of the ornate stock kinda makes me think more mid 1800s.

    It looks like it's in great shape, check the barrels for rust.

    NEVER FIRE IT - The barrels might be corroded and measuring a load with even modern black powder might overpressure the charge.

    I have to agree with Texas1911, it looks like a shotgun from what I can see. And like he said don't fire it. It could get you some unwanted facial scars.

    "W. Jacot warranted" (lock, Circa 1835) reconverted Flint Rifle, 50 cal.,
    octagon Barrel, 56 ½" overall, 4-Piece Pierced brass patch box, German
    silver ½ Moon inlay on cheekpiece, Barrel has "S" in script on top flat,
    deep maroon finish of "false curl" maple stock. Good+ condition. $1500.00
