Let's say, as an example, a person orders 300 rounds of ammo on-line, it ships and after arrival, there are 600 rounds in the box.

    What would TGT do?

Depends. Did the person who bought it contact the company and try to cancel the order or part of the order, and despite repeated attempts and reassurances from customer service the order was indeed canceled/changed get sent the stuff anyway?

If that's how it went down, keep it. GRRR I got a bunch of shit lying around unopened from various companies where this exact thing happened.

If the company didn't FU the order and just accidentally sent extra stuff, guess call them and find out what's going on.

Grab a bottle of Tequila, start taking shots, and count again. Repeat until the numbers on the invoice match the rounds in the box, then go to bed happy.

Seriously I would contact the seller and see what they want to do. We would expect them to be honest and do the right thing if the mistake was the other way.

The above person in the example is a complete dumb-ass.
The hypothetical order was for six 100-round count lots not six 50-round boxes.

Thanks for playing this simulated game.

So you are, hypothetically, of course, saying they accidentally doubled the amount ordered. Correct? Karma and honesty would say a phone call is in order. Particularly if you are a frequent customer of said company. In my experience, the rewards for honest actions are not always immediately apparent but they do arrive in bulk. Or you could just do whatever...

Call and make it right. Someone's job could be at stake over it. Thats probably extreme, but if you made an honest mistake wouldnt you want someone to step up and do the right thing?

I would keep an extra item in most cases if its double on a low cost item as I have tried to do the right thing in the past but odds are they say keep it.But if its somthing of higher value such as ammo I would call them back and let them decide.

What? you just said he ordered 300 rounds.

The person in the example thought he was making out with an extra 300 rds only to find out per his invoices he accidently ordered 300 more than he expected because the order was for six 100rd boxes. Most likely because he was in a rush thinking damn this is a good deal i better order before it runs out and not paying attention.

That makes sense, except that it's not what the first post said.

I'd still like to answer the original question: I would stop drinking while shopping on the internet. Lord knows I have gotten myself into lots of trouble doing that (e.g., I once bought two new pistols instead of just one as intended). LOL

I'd make an honest effort at no cost to myself.

Hey you shipped extra 300 rounds. They are here you need to send me a return label and I'll drop them in the mail for you. No I don't want to keep em. And pay twice.

In my experience, no good deed goes unpunished.

At a convenience store today I bought three sausages on a stick for $1.99 each. With tax, the total should have been a little over $6. The very lovely new cashier who I've recently been trying to be extra friendly with rung me up and quoted a total just over $4. I said "It should be more." She looked at me funny, not understanding me. "They're $2 each. You should be charging me more money."

At this point, another retail drone who was was working on something under the counter right next to her looks up at the cash register. His name tag says "Manager". He says "You only rang up 2. He has 3. Add another one." He then politely thanked me for my honesty. I paid and walked out.

As I left, I turned around to look back and saw the very lovely new cashier who I've recently been trying to be extra friendly with being read the riot act by her Manager for her mistake. I seriously doubt she's gonna give a flying leap about any "extra-friendliness" I try to send her way in the future.

I try to do the right thing. If I'm undercharged, I'll let 'em know and offer to pay. But, dagnabit, sometimes doing the right thing sure feels wrong.

I would place the phone call to fix it, especially since it's a considerable amount of ammunition and it isn't cheap. Honesty is the best policy.
