I went to Eagle Gun Range on ladies night Tuesday night ($5 lane, $5 rental) I was pleasantly surprised. (My only other point of reference was Bullet Trap.) Very nice range people. Everyone greeted me. There was a lady officer who helped ALOT! no man could tell me to stick my butt out and get away with you, you know what I mean! I rented a nano, because I was sure I wanted one. Also the Glock 21 and the Springfield Armory 1911. Did a definite rule-out of the Nano. The Glock 21 was pretty impressive, the SA 1911 was terrific (my eyesight got way better with that one and the Glock). After my time on the range I looked at their selection and found a used 1911 a Kimber Custom TLE II....well, I went back today and bought it. They allowed me to put 10 rounds through it and 6 of them went through the bulls eye, so yessir...I'll take it....so excited. Will need a new range bag. (I've been using a Kate Spade--you guys won't know what that is, but its a high end designer handbag) but the weight of the .45 acp is definitely testing the shoulder strap.

With two females in the house for the last 18 years, yes, some of us guys know about a Kate Spade bag. Good for you taking the effort to try different guns out before you find the one that fits. I hope it will serve you well.

I actually tried over 25 guns before I made the purchase. I have a little 38 snub nose revolver for carry. (can't hit the broad side of a barn with it though) Didn't like the 9mm as much as the 45 acp. (for loading or shooting) So, it came down to caliber really.

Prices aren't great but not bad on range bags right there in the shop. I bought a rifle and bag on the same night. They were going to lend me one to take it to the car but I knew I was going to need a bag eventually and found an inexpensive option on the spot.

They do better used gun business than the local pawn shops and their prices are better. Not super impressed with their prices on new guns, but no one is forcing me to buy them either.

I enjoy Eagle GR. I have not had any issues with range officers being overly zealous. And they've been helpful even to individuals that probably deserved shaming for their actions.

One guy in a bay next to me hit the ceiling 20 feet before the backstop 5 consecutive times. He was shooting an AR standing. The range officer asked him if he needed help and they corrected it.

I would agree on new gun prices. I bought a .38 S&W snubby from them. I could have searched and found it cheaper, but I was running out of time due upcoming hand surgery and needed something that didn't require racking of a slide. They comp'd me the rental fee (tried before I bought) and gave me two cards for free range days.

Good people to shoot the breeze with too.

Agreed...the Eagle folks have always been very friendly, and their facilities are the nicest of the ranges I've visited in the area. I'm in Richardson, so it's a bit of a drive, but a basic membership was worth it to me for a nice place to shoot my AR. Glad you had fun!

Eagle Gun Range is certainly one of the better ranges in the area. It's clean, modern, well-maintained, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, but not overbearing. The only thing I dislike is their 1 shot per second rule, but just about all of the other ranges have that policy as well. They have some valid reasons for the policy, what with the many novices that can be found shooting at these ranges. I agree that the new gun prices at Eagle Gun Range are a bit high, but they do keep a pretty good stock of range ammo for sale at relatively decent prices.

i love eagle gun range - especially compared to the bullet trap

its well aired - there's more room - .......things are a little disjointed at the front counter and it can get crowded - but thats just how it is - they're all pretty nice/friendly - and once you're on the range - they run it very well

    great facility

Gotta agree about Eagle. Not that I've been to that many ranges (I've always shot at my parents' property out in the boonies, but now I'm wanting to shoot more often and for longer periods of time), but Eagle impressed the heck out of me.

Congrats! We also like Eagle Gun Range and have found that the RO's are excellent. My wife feels very comfortable there which is a plus.

QUOTE=mitchntx;795249]Congrats on the purchase. Curious as to why you ruled out the Nano?[/QUOTE]
I thought I'd love the nano, but I couldn't shoot with it. Bullets all over the place! The 1911 narrowed it down to the size of a saucer. I'm hooked. My vision got better!
