    Well, the vote is in:

In what has to be the strangest political debate in recent memory, the liberal crowd (who normally scoff at the concept of states' rights) argued that states shouldn't be forced by Federal law to accept reciprocity of CHL permits from other states. Staunch conservatives (who normally argue for states' rights) called for a Federal law to override such rights.

Gotta admit that I don't know how I feel on this one. I'm a lifetime NRA member and believe strongly in the right to carry, but I'm also strictly opposed to the Fed's increasing intrusion into the sovereignty of state and local governments.

Well RB, I figure we should be able to carry anywhere. CHL'ers are law abiding, and probably tax paying, citizens. I see it along the lines of a drivers license.

I'd guess the founding fathers envisioned us carrying everywhere we had to.

I wasn't in support of this. i'd prefer a law requiring there to be some state mechanism to protect the right to keep and bear arms.

Or a court decision stating the above.

Can't say I disagree with your sentiment, but the founding fathers were also very careful to try to limit the powers of a central Federal government (a plan that has gone terribly awry, IMHO) and it still makes me nervous when the feds make ANY law that trumps state and local law.
