It was gone only 6 weeks, which is a phenomenal turnaround time for the amount of work done. Misplaced my VZ grips i'd gotten for it, so the stockers have to do for now until i find the VZ's. Gonna run at least 400 rounds through it this weekend to break it in.

I've got a (german I think) surplus HP i got from Aim a while back that really needs some sprucing up.
Thinking of getting it recoated and some parts polished and a trigger job....and get rid of that blasted mag disconnect.

Interesting, I only see HP's for close to $1000. Nice guns but not worth that much to me. Now, for $500? That's a different story.

I thought your before picture looked pretty good already! The end result is pretty sweet though.

The Israeli imports are excellent bargains and are quite usable as-is or as a basis for a nice custom build. Here's a T-series from '67 that I did the basics on: remove mag safety, clean up trigger slightly (pull is now a safe, clean 5 lbs), open up rear sight notch and parkerize. Looks good and is a great range gun. It was one of only two handguns I took when I went back on active duty at FT Bragg, and got lots of trigger time. I even jumped with it a couple of times.

Before: some light scattered pitting on the slide, bluing wear and a tough, 8-lb trigger, typical of a service-grade BHP. Perfect bore, though. The 60's T-series are considered the pinnacle of BHP quality and are classics.

After: pitting removed from the slide (a good finish is all about prep work), leaving the edges sharp and the lettering unmolested. A great shooter and carry piece, with a manageable trigger, better duty-type sights and utter reliability. Beats a plastic pistol any time. There's a reason why the BHP was the most popular 9mm in NATO and other countries (54 at last count) as a service sidearm. Still issued in many countries and carried world-wide.

Target shot before Parkerizing; I had the trigger cleaned up and mag safety removed first for better range results; I wanted to shoot this BHP to see the potential before going forward on any further surgery. This one shot well, almost to point of aim, at 20 yards. A couple of gentle "taps" to the left side of the rear sight put this one "spot on".

Ready to go, anywhere a rugged pistol is needed. Favorite of the British SAS, the Hi Power is an awesome service pistol. This one shoots to point of aim, is totally reliable, rugged and has a nice trigger. And it's handsome in a no-nonsense way. What's not to like?

I wish mine didn't have a 12lb trigger pull. That's what Sugar Land's pull gauge measured it at.

Can Novak work some magic on my horrible stock trigger? I'm not sure I want anything else changed except that and some better sights (mine is the little hump in front and short rear blade sights). I like the Browning blued finish.

What's the trigger like on yours now?
