When I lived in CA they did one in San Bernardino but I could never make it. I am personally not a great shot, and as someone who only learned to shoot from his dad, I'd be really excited to learn some "fundamentals". They are doing one on the weekend of November 16th in Davilla, which is about an hour and fifteen minutes from Austin. Or at least from my house according to Google.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone was interested in road tripping up there with me? I have a SUV so I should have plenty of space. I am planning on only going for one day. I don't know if I can spare a whole two days of not being in Austin. So if you want to come, let me know. I was hoping to do the Saturday the 16th in particular.

There's a range out there? Thats only like 40 min away if that from Hutto. I think I'd be interested, my 10/22 has been collecting a bit of dust lately. Is there a link or a FB page for this event?

That sounds like a good time. Need to obtain a 10/22.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

I'm thinking of bringing my Mini 30. I have plenty of ammo for it. But I was also thinking one of my M1 carbines would be better, less kick. I've been looking at 10/22s for a while though. Would make a good excuse to just pick one up.

I highly suggest everyone go to an appleseed. I went to one when I also lived in CA, terrible state, but I also went to the one in Ransur NC where the whole thing began and earned my badge. Actually wearing my shirt right now.

I do suggest taking a .22LR. You will go through a crap ton of rounds. Also make certain you are extremely comfortable with your sling. This is very important when learning how to earn your marksmanship.
