How many arms do you have? They have a one arm dove hunt in Olney, TX every year. I've been to a couple of them (not shooting).

I think Stephenville. TX claims to be the Dove Hunting capitol of Texas, get online and check 'em out. Pretty dry so I don't know hunting will be in September there.

I've been thinking of trying to organize a TGT hunt for this September. That type of hunting is best when you can get a group... 3 or more. The cursory looking I've done showed a lot of ranches around Throckmorton, Shackelford, and Stephens counties. Most offer day hunst from $60 - $100 per shooter. I'll have to see how many are interested.

I did my first dove and quail hunting in Spring Creek, Texas, between Young and Archer Counties. Between Olney and Megargel. Lots of brush, too many Mesquite trees and right on the Brazos River. Rattlesnake dens everywhere. That's also the country where I learned to quilt and cook. That's where this city girl learned what it meant to be a country woman. Lots of memories. But none of a one arm dove hunt. Were you kidding? What is a one arm hunt???

I thought his comment was pretty tasteless, especially in light of all the returning vets and friends of vets on this forum.

You might want to contact the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Or rather search through their web page. They permit dove hunting in various parks and game managment areas. There are safety rules such as wearing the day glo orange but they do have a lot of land open for dove hunting. At least they did when I checked it out several years ago.

There actually is a one arm dove hunt and many participants are vets and some that have accidents and cancer. Dont comment on something that you dont have a clue about! Its been going on for over 30 years.

You assume that the gentleman was trying to be funny. He stated that he had been there several times. Do you know whether he has both arms or maybe a kin or friend that dont have both? Why didnt you ask, instead of deciding how much of a lack of taste the post had. Then you could voice your opinion. Being arrogant does not make you intelligent.

Cowboy45...........it could have been the rather blunt way the question was ask that hit a nerve with Texsun.............how many arms do you have?? An then not much of an explanation just that he had been there several times. I'm pretty thick skinned and although I wouldn't call it Tastless..........it sure caught me off guard. My but just hate to see two members going at each other over a place to go dove hunting.

I fortunately have both and they still work reasonably well, and I am thankful for that. I dont care to "go at it with anyone". Maybe the guy was trying to be funny, or maybe he volunteers out there , or maybe assist someone. My point being that if you dont know, ask, and then wade in there. I am pretty thick skinned myself, but I am not when it comes to something of an attitude without knowing the specifics.
Thanks OKIE 556 for the feed back. Again I am not trying to pick a fight with anyone, but I have always tried to find out what is going on before engaging.

They cover the one armed dove hunt every year on our news its a very very good group of peoople that help and put it on. To the op I would try and look at small town type papers for day hunts.
