Just got a nice little letter in the mail. I can think of other ways I'd rather spend $75. After reviewing the video (yeah, they've gotten high tech) evidence online, the black or white legal issue is clear: I turned right on red without completely stopping. Watching the footage with a real-world mindset shows that the intersection was empty enough to be called Palin Lane, that no other cars were approaching, and that I came to a safe enough speed to determine those factors before proceeding.

I have about an hour to spend on this. The ticket was $75. It costs $50 to play at the non-judicial hearing, if I lose, which I probably would.

Anybody have any luck with these?

Contest, ask for witness, case dismissed.

Yeah, the boys are right. You are wrong. Contesting this ticket will result in an administrative hearing where an officer will view the footage and either uphold the citation plus $50 or dismiss it altogether.

I will be paying my $75 later today, and taking a new way to work from now on!

    No cop no stop LOL!

This reminds me of a joke.

Guy gets pulled over after crossing an intersection. He walks to the back of his car with the officer and asks why he was pulled over. Officer tells him he was pulled over for failing to stop at the intersection. Guy protests saying he slowed down before proceeding. Officer pulls out his baton and starts hitting the guy in the head with it. Officer asks 'sir, would you rather I slow down or stop'.

Shitty joke but I've been waiting years for the right opportunity to use it.

It would be nice if it were legal to treat the lights like stop it yield signs in some cases. I have sat at red lights in the middle of the night with no other cars in sight tapping the steering wheel an considering rolling through. I just know if I decide to I will get lit up, lol.

Vandalism of those type of traffic control devices is pretty common in the UK and is starting to take hold over here. Some places have had to install cameras to monitor the traffic cameras. From my understanding every time their use as been put to a public vote, it's been rejected. Internet is full of pictures of those things painted over, burned, cut down, and destroyed or broken in other ways.
