I got to agree with you, DC. I was annoyed that the camera was covered up when they shot the dog. It didn't sound like the dog was being aggresive.

It really bothers me how they kept tasering it when they were dragging it to the truck.

As an Animal Services Officer I think the person with the snare pole needs more training on how to be an ASO. There was no need to taser that dog once much less twice. Improper Training.

I agree. I've been a dog owner pretty much my whole life, and that dog did not look aggressive. Looked like he was a big dummy who liked to hear the sound of his own voice. And yelling at a barking dog, especially one that doesn't know you? No, it's not like that just encourages it to bark more.

IMO, Tasers have become something that gets used way too quickly before any other options have been explored. Betcha a thousand bucks that if they'd approached the dog with a couple of biscuits, he'd have let them leash him...

ok I finally saw it. What BS that was, the dog never appeared aggressive to me, yes be on your toes, but I don't think the dog ever appeared aggressive and i've been chased out of homes by many a mean dog, even a few viscious weiner dogs (i know)

Animal control officers took a pit bull into custody after it bit a police officer at Collier Park. The officer was bitten on the back of his right thigh. The officer was originally called out to the park to confront people who were parking their cars on the grass. When he approached a family who was there for a birthday party, the officer apparently got too close to a pit bull which was tied to a nearby tree. The dog attacked the officer, biting him on his thigh. The officer says he chose not to draw his weapon. The dog had its vaccinations so there should be no threat of any illness. Animal Control handled all the paperwork concerning the dog bite.

The first dog is for damn sure a boxer not a pit. And the second dog likely just felt threatened buy the officer being to close to his (the dogs) family. And no matter what every one wants to know what breed of the dog is. If you look at the number of dogs that bit people in this country, the pit bull is not number one. That distinction goes to the dalmatian.

I'm sure your facts on the dalmatian are correct but I just don't remember any stories on the news about that breed mauling kids or grown-ups.

Actually, Dalmations can be pretty aggressive since they were bred for guard duty. I'm pretty sure that Dalmations probably bite more people, it's just that it's a lot less horrific when they do.

I did not know that...........it's funny all I think of when I hear of a dalmation is fire trucks.

I did remember my dad forbidding me to get one when I was young because he thought the stubborn and hard to train.

Their use with fire fighting dates back to the days of fire companies usually being privately-run companies. They'd use the dogs to keep competitors away from their equipment (I've heard sabotage was common and resulted in more than a few buildings or entire blocks lost to fire).

Dalmations date back a long time before that, though. It's just one of their modern uses.
