I am a teacher at a private school. Our school is pro gun for the most part (our kids have had airsoft gun activities in years past and we are taking our kids to a gun safety field trip in a couple weeks. Our school is in a church that is also is gun friendly and im sure there are quite a few chl holders with a firearm during Sunday morning worship. All of that said we have not ever talked over the ability for teachers to carry on campus and at school events. I know that it is illegal for me to carry at our school without permission but I do think that if presented the correct way I could explain to them that we do not need to arm teachers but rather just not disarm those who are chl holders. Anyone have any advice on how to bring this issue up and present it in a correct way? Also do you have any recommendations for further firearms training a teacher should have? In your opinion should a teacher who carries in school get level 3 security guard training?

We do not have a superintendent. We are a small private school. We have a principal and a school board. I will be bringing it up to the head of the school board and the principal together soon but I wanted to better think through how to present the idea to them before I do.

Use today's shooting in Sparks as an example. Unarmed teacher tries to intervene and is killed. There are those that can help you with the presentation. Mind sharing what part of Texas you are in?

I'd not go put the teachers who have CHLs though any additional requirements or training. Makes things unnecessarily complex.
As both a CHL and guard instructor, I say unequivocally no. It will be a huge waste of your time.

    Where are you?
Thanks guys, Im outside of San Marcos.
