So I want to start shooting at longer ranges then 25 and 50 yards so I am looking for a scope that can reach out to 100, 200, 300 yards. Price range $100/150 just for the scope. I will also need a mount for it so any info on that would be cool to.
At 300 yards, my eyes need at least 12 power. Your price range doesn't offer much in the way of quality glass, so I suggest at least sticking with known quantities like Redfield, Nikon, Bushnell, and Burris, all who have something at least close to your numbers. Stay away from likes of Simmons, Tasco, and Barska if you can. You can do some online window shopping at OpticsPlanet and SWFA to get some ideas.
Gravity has a profound effect on a 40 grain bullet traveling at 1000 feet per second.
I don't know what your experience level is but typically a 22 Long Rifle is best used at 100 yards and under. Most people target shoot at 75 yards and under unless you have a heavy barrel target rifle.
I would suggest a Nikon Rimfire Series scope for around 150 dollars.
you can get a 3X9 and have all you will need for your Marlin 795
I'm not sure if the receiver on the Marlin is tapped for a scope base, so you might need to use the grooved mounts
I admire an optimist. My 795 has a dovetail on top. I would keep an eye on MidwayUSA, they have lower end scopes on sale pretty often. I picked up a Simmons KLiK on sale for my 10/22. It's a big honking scope, but it does the job and it only cost me $90.

for the money with what you want to do, you can't hardly go wrong with the Nikon
also, if you upgrade rifles you can swap it out
just know the limits of the rifle and cartridge and a 22 lr is pretty limited on range, but can be a ton of fun with small game and targets out to 100 yards
I have a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 EFR that I purchased from OpticsPlanet. It sits atop my Savage Mk II F, and I have been pleased with it so far. The accuracy of the sporter barrel at 50 yards is limited, but I plan on upgrading as soon as I can to a bull barrel model which will wear this scope. I expect to see better results.
I did however have shoot a half-dollar sized group at 100 yards with it. Once. Even a blind hog finds an acorn now and again.
