No. Just...no. That piece is alarmist crap.

This has been covered before, so I'll just copy, paste, and do some minor editing to something I wrote previously. To wit -

The World Heritage Site was originally an idea from the U.S. We led the world in creating the whole idea of National Parks and in 1965 a White House study group proposed that something similar be done internationally. A bunch of nations got on board with that idea via the U.N.

Mostly, it's a bureaucratic waste of money. A U.N. plaque will be placed somewhere on the grounds where it does not detract from the overall appearance of the site. There is absolutely no requirement to fly the U.N. flag. Yes, the Infowars piece references a site that does fly the flag. However, it's not required or even mentioned in the Operational Guidelines for the World Heritage Convention. The decision to fly that flag at the example site in Illinois was purely the bright idea of some local administrator.

The World Heritage Site designation sometimes serves a legitimate purpose. If something of real historical, cultural, or natural significance is threatened with destruction, theoretically all the nations that have signed on to the program will chip in a few bucks to save whatever is threatened. Some good work of that sort has been done on multiple occasions, especially along the Nile.

Also, designation of a location as a World Heritage Site automatically puts it under the protection of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. So, since these sites are supposed to be off-limits during war, neither side is supposed to use them to support their war effort. Also, neither side is supposed to willfully damage such sites.

That means if we ever get into an all-out war again, no signatory to the agreement that created the site registry should ever attack:

Now, just because this is all basically a nice idea that has grown a bureaucracy to administer it doesn't mean it is or isn't a legitimate government or U.N. function or worth the money spent on it. Everybody will have their opinion on that. The reason the U.N. pays any attention to historic or significant sites like national parks is only because the U.S. asked them to back in 1965.

UNESCO doesn't "take over" or "manage" anything. This is not worth getting worked up over.

Alex Jones is a government plant to make alternative news look crazy. The guy has got to be on the .gov dole......or he's insane.

I'd buy either of those stories but not much out of his mouth.

No doubt that the Alamo is a sensitive subject, and nobody with half a brain should trust the UN to do anything except foster corruption. I have to wonder why anybody bothers with such a crap like this world heritage stuff.

I've been to probably two dozen UNESCO World Heritage sites in the 10 countries I've visited on 4 different continents, never once saw a U.N. flag.

Does anyone know what the plaque would be made of?? Aluminum, bronze? might drive down and steal it, so I can feel like they've done something for me. Maybe trade it in for some $2 bills!

World Heritage designation elevates a historical site on the international stage. Which means more people will visit the site. Which means more money will be spent in our local economy. Also, the World Heritage designation would be for all five Spanish colonial missions in San Antonio, four of which are already part of a national park.

I'd say anything that says UN at the site of the Alamo detracts from it.
And personally, every time we say "No biggie. - it doesnt mean anything.", we play into their hands by further legitimzing the UN, which is a bad thing.
I dont wang every school kid who goes to the Alamo thinking...."Hmm, the UN had something to do with the Alamo" or "Oh. The state of Texas respects the UN enough to want their approval of the Alamo's historic value."

Little by little.......Regardless of what Alex Jones has to say. I think Hippie is right. Jones job is to make the mindless say "Oh, Alex said.this so I should disregard anything anybody says about it."

Honestly, I worry about some of you fellas, judging by your comments.
This bogus UN designation has already infringed on property rights around the Alamo. SA city council recently denied a new hotel/high rise proposal in downtown because of it.
If you do your research, you'll find that these UN designations allow for international regulations to dictate what we do with our private and public lands around those spots right here in the USA. If that isn't anti-American, I don't know what is. It is also anti-Texan.

The comments on Alex Jones are also very ignorant and immature. Most can't handle Alex Jones because he tells it like it is, raw and uncensored. By doing my own research, I've usually found him spot on. The punks who trash him on this forum are usually attacking things they heard someone say he said, and completely out of context. If someone said he said "the UN is taking over the Alamo," then your attacks would be against a straw man. In context, he is arguing about sovereignty.

Maybe you folks are too chicken to care about things like sovereignty. It is not enough that as property owners in Texas we have to deal with state and local jurisdictions, not to mention Uncle Sam, dick around unconstitutionally with our rightfully own property, at times at the threat of force and seizure, but now we have some corrupt and evil international body trying weasel its way into our local areas. F-that.

If you disagree with what I have said or about what I said about Alex Jones, PM me and I can send you more info. Or, if you are man enough, show us right here something he said, citing him directly in context, that was wrong or misleading, and explain why. I'd like to hear it.

Not to be disrespectful, but y'all sound like some candy-ass, UN/Obama loving Bitches when you come into this conversation like limp wrists.
