Snopes.com, the (say it with me, children) LIBERAL OWNED WEBSITE, calls BS on this, citing the site and language is intended for dealers rather than the general public.

    snopes.com: Cash for Clunkers

Ok. Well, I continue to have a problem with it. First, the government has assumed ownership of the computers and related data at car dealerships? Second, what happens to the consumer who stumbles across this website and clicks "I accept?" Have you ever known the government to turn down a power grab?

I've never been a conspiracy theorist, but this crap is everywhere, every day. It's like the Clinton bimbo eruptions. If even 10% of it is true, we're in deep doo doo!!!

Of course it is, they don't want the public to know they are doing this. Yes deep doo doo indeed.
And cog41 even if you get off the grid this BS will still effect you.

OK if it was only intended for dealers (I dare anyone to log on) and this administration now runs 2 of the big 3 do you think they might be up to something there? Maybe they need to know which dealership to give preferential treatment or close?

Because this bill taken at face value is a stupid as they come. Lets get people that drive cars that are worth about $2,000.00 to trade them in and destroy their old car. If your driving a junker car you probably don't need a car payment anyway, didn't we just go through this with the mortgage business?

It's not like even if they had to do something this stupid, they could use some of these cars to trade with poor people that have cars that leak more oil than burn gas?

Also we are going to put a government employee in bed with the car dealer to work out a deal with someone that might be sucked into this? Good Luck.

The program goes broke the first week and it was suppose to last until November?

At the very least this was just another auto bail-out (again with our money) and I think the sky is the limit with the real purpose of this garbage.

Oh ya I am a little bent personally about this because I went down to buy a new car, I figured hey $4,500.00 plus something for a trade in? No they will not give anything but the government rebate. So this will not do anything for the average person, you literally have to be driving a junk car for at least a year with insurance and inspection. They said something about showing 2 years tax returns as well but, that came up about the time I told them....well I didn't really say anything I just left.

If you think giving your car away for way less then it's worth is a good idea, then I guess this is a good plan?

What was I thinking anyway getting some sort of a break with my own tax dollars, how stupid can you be?
