I know it's past Veterans Day but...

The holidays are a time of giving and many people give to deserving charities. This year I would ask you to think about the men and women of our military coming home with the scars of war, both physical and emotional.

Every day 22 veterans take their lives. That's a suicide every 65 minutes. This is happening right here in our back yard.

Support the Wounded Warrior Project, Soldiers Angels or The Warrior Foundation this year. Make a card as a gift for a loved one and make a donation in their honor. Anything can make a difference.

Don't just say you support the troops, SUPPORT THE TROOPS.

If you want to use the picture please do, to not only raise awareness but financial support for our veterans.

Thank you to all the veterans here.

Please........Not to detract from the importance of your message but also be aware that suicides with firearms are categorized as "firearms violence" in crime statistics. Fully 1/2 of the "gun violence" crimes are suicides but those are the statistics Liberals beat us over the head with.

That being said, may God bless and watch over our military service men & women past and present.

It is my understanding these particular stats are counted regardless of the method used.

I could be wrong, it's happened before.

I would really like to try and find a way to locate a Veteran in my area and just hook them up with Christmas dinner and some presents for the kiddos, or cash for whatever they need for their family.

Anyone know a way of doing this?

If you're going to hook them up with cash my suggestion is to put it in an envelope, then put the envelope somewhere they won't find it untila fter you're done with them. I've never met a vet who was quick to grab at charity cash even if he needed it desperately. Don't bother with checks, either; they'll probably go straight to the trash. Give him cash in an envelope and there's not much he can do to not accept it.
