it would be great if they did ban these before one blows up in someone's face. Thus effectively driving up both gun and 3d printer prices or garnering more public hysteria about guns. As for sneaking in other measures to further regulate gun control...i doubt it. The public should (yes i know i huge leap of faith) be too savvy for that. However, with firearms and polictics i wouldn't be surprised if they did.

My question is will the Senate try to chuck this full of other gun control measures? And if they do, does it have to go back to the house for a vote on the new measures?

Any changes are supposed to be worked by a conference committee of members of both houses, and that outcome goes back to each house for another vote. That said, the critters always have some legal sleight of hand up their sleeves to circumvent the will of the people in favor of special interests, so you never know.

Today's HR passing is nothing more than "feel good" legislation, that gives the congress critters a warm and fuzzy feeling, and so they can say they "did something".

The net effect of the passage, like any other bit of gun legislation, will have no effect whatsoever on those who have no intention of following any law.

As far as the 3D printing issue, Pandora's Box is already open ...

This only applies to the 3D printing guns, correct? Not to Glocks?

Does nothing to even Cody Wilson's guns. Pretty hard to get a good primer strike without a steel firing pin which his guns already use (the little 22 one shot uses a roofing nail for a firing pin which is enough to set off a metal detector thus legal even with this bill).

As I understand it, the next time the Senate convenes is the last day of the ban, as such, I heard it mentioned that they would have no time to change what the House sends to them. True or false... I don't know. Thoughts?

Now that you mentio n that, I recall reading that they are to take it to vote on the last day of the ban as well. So maybe they wont have time to add crap to it.

The senate wouldn't dare let it expire, otherwise the streets will run red with the blood of innocents.

We still don't have a budget after five years, Obama has not been made to pay for his lying, spying, bankrupting ways and millions remain unemployed. It's all made better knowing that the turds in Congress are banning what may be the rarest type of firearm on planet Earth! I feel much better!

    Passed with no changes.

Congress Renews Plastic Gun Ban For Decade

WASHINGTON (AP) — Narrowly beating a midnight deadline, Congress voted Monday to renew an expiring ban on plastic firearms that can evade airport detection machines. But Republicans blocked an effort to toughen the restrictions — the latest defeat for gun-control forces in the year since the grade school massacre in Newtown, Conn.
By voice vote, the Senate gave final congressional approval to a 10-year extension of the prohibition against guns that can slip past metal detectors and X-ray machines. The House voted last week for an identical decade-long renewal of the ban, and the measure now goes to President Barack Obama for his signature.
But GOP senators rejected an effort by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to strengthen the ban by requiring that such weapons contain undetachable metal parts. Some plastic guns meet the letter of the current law with a metal piece that can be removed, making them a threat to be slipped past security screeners at schools, airports and elsewhere.
