I recently moved to Texas from Nevada and I have my Nevada CCW (which Texas recognizes). The problem or curiosity I guess is what to do in regards to my address being different on my CCW and DL, I have my Texas DL with my Texas address but my CCW still has my Nevada address. I have submitted an address change to my local sheriff back in Nevada and I am waiting for my new CCW with proper address:banghead:. Can I still carry here until my new CCW arrives if the addresses don't currently match? Seems to me it wouldn't be a huge deal, but I don't really want to mess around with felonies and such!

There is no law or requirement that your addresses match. As long as your license is valid, you are good.

TXI. Before my last renewal, my CHL had physical address zip code, 75605 and TX/DL had mailing address (P.O. Box) zip code, 75608. During the purchase on new guns (happened twice) the LGS employee made a big deal about them being different and even made me complete another 4473 because I put the wrong zip code on the form. Not even sure now which one he wanted just remember he was a jerk about it. I realize the poster was asking about legally carrying but was he just jerking my chain?

If they're both from Texas they should match - there's an update requirement w.r.t. addresses. OP has an out of state CCW.

From what I remember when I worked in gun sales is if the license had a po box we couldn't use it unless you had a hunting license or something similar with your physical address iirc. I can't recall if that was just store policy or law, though if you had your CHL that's what we used.

Okay thanks and they do match now. Not every store is as observant as the one I was referring to. I filled out a 4473 just last Saturday and accidentally used my P.O. Box zip code instead of physical zip code and wasn't ask to change. Guess the salesperson didn't catch it. It's hard to remember because in 35 years at this street address we have always received mail at post office so I never even think of the other zip code.

There is no law requiring them to match. However, both the DL laws and CHL laws require that a person complete a change of address with the respective division within 30 days of changing address. But nothing says they must match. In other words, there is no penalty or administrative action possible for mismatched addresses.

For example, I recently moved. I completed change of address for each license two weeks apart. My updated CHL arrived much sooner than the DL. There was nothing wrong, illegal or otherwise problematic with carrying the licenses with different addresses.

    ;)

Gets a little complicated with sales. If DL has correct address, no problem as long as Tax CHL is still valid.
If CHL has correct address, and not DL, they need an alternate state issued proof of residence, registration, hunting license, or do 4473 and use CHL for ID and proof of residence.
Out of state CCW is immaterial, can't use at all for purchase, regardless of the address on it.
