There may already be a thread on this subject, and if there is, I apologize..maybe someone could send me in the right direction.

    My question is...

Why doesn't Glock make a Compact model (like the G27 and G26) in a .45?

I currently own the full size G21 (love it) and have had the sub compact G30 in the past...but there is no "compact" model...just curious.

Any comments or discussion is appreciated.

Good question. I don't think anyone has an answer to it. Try contacting Glock and see if they can give you an explanation. 1 770 - 432 1202. Sorry can't locate an email address for them.

My guess would be they came out with the .45GAP to cover that area, however that wouldn't make much sense either because they were able to build a Compact model .45ACP. I read where they created the .45GAP because the .45ACP cartridge was too long for the subcompact pistols, but that wouldn't make any sense as to a reason they couldn't build a compact model.

I like the G21, but I would like a compact model myself.

Glock lists the G30 and the G36 as "sub-compacts". The frame seems to be roughly about the size (a little thicker) of the G26 and G27 "sub-compacts".

Just wondering why they don't have the .45 ACP in the "compact" or mid-sized Glock.

They do, as lonewolf23c stated, have the .45 GAP in this mid-sized (compact) frame.

Just seems odd, with such a popular size, that they wouldn't manufacture it.

I think you might have confused a couple of us by wanting a COMPACT .45 but referring to SUB COMPACTs lke the G27 & G26. Were you meaning to compare to G23 & G19? Either way......I have owned Glocks for a long time and it never occurred to me tah there wasn't a .45 in their Compact line. I have 40s and 9s but just never have been a 45 guy.

There isn't a compact size in the .45ACP Glock. Who knows why, maybe Glock forgot to make one, heck they have how many different Glock Models. They were to busy building a shovel the day the design team was talking about guns. LOL.

Yes Okie, thanks for the clarification.

The question is why is there not a .45 ACP in the compact (mid size) model like the G19 and G23.

Texas1911 pretty much answers it. The Glock 30, which they list as subcompact, is actually a lot closer in size to the Glock 19 than to the Glock 26.

9mm and .40 Glocks use the same, smaller frame. The large caliber Glocks (.45, 10mm) use a larger, wider frame.

The .45 GAP cartridge was designed with the intent to have a .45 caliber bullet fired from a small-frame Glock. There is a .45 GAP that is built on the same frame as the Glock 19 and 23.
