What type of coating? Advice, suggestions, ,,,,

Rust is not normally an issue around here, but, in this instance it is.
Ive got a good start on removing the old paint and rust. I'd like to hear some thoughts on a good paint or coating to protect the steel.
Structural integrity is very good right now, but a poor finish will have me questioning that in a few years.

So, what do the coastal guys have to say?
Oil and gas guys? (Yeah, ive seen the H2S effects on steel, not pretty)

I really don't want to do this again!

Powder coating should do what you need. Just make sure ALL the rust is gone before the powder coat is done.

Most powdercoat shops have a sand blasting set up, so they can take care of the rust and do the job at the same time. If you're wanting to do it yourself, visit a paint store like Sherwin Williams or Kelly Moore and look at their marine primers and coatings. (make sure you go solvent based, not any of the newer environmentally water based stuff)

Finished! 1 coat of rustoleum high performance primer and 2 coats of high performance enamel.
Replaced all hardware with stainless steel fasteners.

Time will tell.

Thanks! The drying and re-coating process in this cool weather was certainly a patience test.
It's outta my way now.
