I priced a new 629 4" with a stainless finish a whileback and it was gonna be around $900.00 the stainless bumped the price a bit.

I turned a friend of mine onto a 629-6 (I think it was a -6) 6 inch with the power port that was for sale locally for $525 back in August of last year. Damn nice gun in near perfect condition. I've seen them anywhere from that $500 or so mark up to $625 in the better condition range. I don't think I'd go outside of that range unless it was pristine/unfired/NIB. YMMV

Barrel length and finish can dictate pricing

    6 1/2" and stainless. 600 series = stainless iirc

    That sounds pretty good.

If you can find a 629 in any finish other than stainless, you have a real colletor oddity. Anytime you see a 6 as the first character in a S&W model, the frame is stainless.

N-Frame Smiths are going at a premium round here lately. A nice 4" 629 will bring $600 minimum. If you can find one for less than $500, its a steal.
