Assuming other things are equal, it makes sense to move mfg., shipping, etc. *next door* to WY but why are the big wigs coming here?

Some kind of personal tax advantage? Long term market strategy?

In guessing they got subsidies from both states that grossly exceeded the cost of the move. Also, perhaps shipping from Wyoming is more advantageous than Texas due to its location.

I'll be sure to pick up a bunch of 'Made in TX or Wyoming' Pmags when they start appearing.

I prefer USGI mags (cuz the FNC and FS2000 had issues with Pmags) but will gladly support a company that walks the walk.

I'm sure the bean counters were heavily involved.

It's kind of saddens me that Texas gets the Korporate Kool-Aid drinkers and Wyoming gets the working man.

My guess, they're looking to Las Colinas/Irving/Lewisville area. Seems to be where a lot of Corporate offices are. They'd have easy access to DFW airport too. Both office and warehouse spaces in N. DFW area are booming with growth.

Overall that is great news for Texas. I hope both TX and Magpul benefit readily from the relationship. I am interested to see if/when/how the 2014election is impacted somehow.

Just saw the article via twitter! WooHoo! They are moving the headquarters to north Texas and looks like operations to Wyoming.

That's exactly where I was thinking also.

I had heard that they were looking at locations there and in the Roundrock area.

Roundrock just doesn't make as much sense for a company like Magpul except for its easier access to larger tracts of open land.

I had no idea they were looking that far south. (The article I saw mentioned three N.TX sites). RoundRock is neat but IMO the political environment around CenTex seems constantly hostile that, like you said, does not make sense. Though it does make for good political access.

That Corporate Koolaid brings in a lot of money for the state and local economy. Give Magpul credit, they are standing on principle just by following through on their promise to move. More corporate clout in the state on "our side" is not a bad thing nor should it be implied that it is.

Why would you put HQ here and the factory in Wyoming?

I would imagine they didn't want to lose most of their manufacturing employees... Wyoming the next state up. They could probably retain more employees by leaving manufacturing there.

I wonder if the HQ relocation will amount to a hill of beans. I wonder how many jobs and space they will really take.

The real meat of the idea would be the Wyoming jobs.

DFW airport most likely had more of a pull than any other single factor as the HQ guys travel a bunch.

For all the negative comments about the 'Corporate Koolaid' and 'big wigs' I bet Texas gets the senior management staff and I am guessing their training center.

Land in north central Texas would be ideally suited for such needs and a lot easier to acquire and develop into a world class facility.
