So I am unable to find the powder and primers I need locally. If someone has a source with stuff in stock, let me know. Consequently, I am thinking of making an order for powder and primers via the internet. If anyone is interested, we could pool together to share the Haz Mat/shipping fees. I only plan on getting 2-4 lbs of powder and maybe 2-3 k of primers, so if anyone wants to get the other 4lbs of powder and 2k or so of primers, let me know.

    Thanks!

Between cabelas and academy you should have no problems finding primers but I'd definitely be interested in group powder buy we can get enough people to make it worth it. Looking at getting some h335 and haven't seen any locally. Maybe some more cfe223 if my lgs doesn't get any soon.

I always find it best to support local buisness. Keeps 'em in buisness if you know what I mean. Good companies that never gouged customers when times got tough, type of companies who are looking for loyal customers who appreciate reasonable prices. Keeping local companies in buisness means components are available for local customers, if you know what I mean.

For sure, I have been to Cabelas, Gander, Mc B's...Mc B's sent me to WC Armory, but they have nothing in stock. Looking for RL 15 and a few others, plus large mag rifle primers, Large rifle primers, various bullets etc. If you know of any place locally, please let me know!

The place I have found so far only allows 8lbs and 5k primers per order. If I find another source and we can get more people, that would be cool.

If you have a place with RL15 in stock, go for it ! Organizing group buy hazmat in these times is tough as everyone wants something diff and 90% of that is OOS. You're a new member, I can't PM you/vice versa. WCA has items in stock for local folks and local gun shows they don't always post on the website because they get gobbled up. They accept back-orders and most times prioritize local pickups vs shipping.

Yeah, I put an order in with them on backorder, but from what I see, RL 15 has like 30 people ahead of me. I think I found some RL15 in Houston. But I am looking at alternatives as it appears that powder may never come back....I have heard that it's repackaged Norma powder, and Norma now has a new distribution path here so that relationship is not working so well. Not sure that is true, but that is what I have heard. Too bad, because it's the gold standard for the 375 h&h.

Talked with Barnes just now, Ty over there is a super guy. He suggested a few different powders that I am looking into as alternatives. Viht 540 looks great, but it's very pricey. IMR 4064 is another good one...but not sure on it's temperature stability.

Aaaach! I just want my RL 15 back!

Viht's wait list is as long (or longer) than the RL15 if you ask me and it's hella expensive. I have also heard 4064 is temp sensitive. A lot of people in the 223/308 crowd have found that XBR8108 is not as temp sensitive as varget and 4064. Not sure if it's suitable for your application, consult your load data. Burn rate is slower per this chart. IMR 4064, H335 and IMR8208 are plentiful right now in both single lb and 8 lb jugs.

I have a source for Vhit, I just don't like the price. I have used Viht powders a long time ago for pistol, and it was awesome, but always expensive and hard to get.

So from the info Barnes just sent me, here are suitable powders:

    RL15 the king
    N540
    4064
Those are the top 3...in order, the next...
    IMR or H 4895
W760 or H414 (they are the same according to Barnes)
    H380
    AA 2460

Of all these, RL 15 is king. The Viht appears to be the next best, then 4064.

I also was told that Norma 203-b, not by Barnes, is what RL 15 really is. But the data I get from Norma on this does not reflect the effectiveness of RL15 at all, and I am not one to go off and find out on my own. Not experienced enough for that kind of stuff.

This might sound stupid, but have you called every gun shop in a 300 mile radius of where you live?

Back when Slick Willie caused a run on powders and primers, I found a small shop in Maryland that had exactly what I wanted.

Yes, It cost me some time and gasoline, and time off, but I am still reloading with some of the primers I bought more than twenty years ago.

Every re-loader will eventually take the long view.

It is better to die with more reloading components than you ever used up.

(And it sure as hell pisses off those stuck with your stockpile who never cared about your hobby).

As others have said WC Armory is great. Yeah you're gonna find a waiting list on a lot of things, but you aren't going to find those same things online either, and at least WC puts you on a list. Plus you don't have to pay the hazmat fee. I've purchased several things from them, always good experience.

A lot of the times their inventory shows zero in stock, BUT those items have already been reserved for local gun shows (thus the zero available for retail). Those reserved items are available to local customers so don't be afraid to ask or place backorders. Sometimes they post their gun show inventory also so you can browse and make requests for inventory from their gun show reserve.

Yup, since I found out about them I have only made a couple of online orders and intend to put in some bulk component orders in with them once the bank account recovers from my last spending spree. Prices are great and nice people.

Well, so far, my plans have gone awry ;) Someone tested the bullet/powder combo I was advised to try by the bullet manu (they have no loading data yet for the bullet), and it has been a failure thus far. So I am having to evaluate the bullet I want to use, and also the powder etc. In otherwords, all balls in the air. Gonna try to get everything from WC first. If that's not possible, then will have to order out. Still don't know, hopefully WC can get what I need!

Right now, I think I'll be needing some Norma powder (I have a source for this at the moment), maybe also 4064 or 760...H4831 SC maybe....RL15 is the king, but I've given up hope on that one.

We've let people piggy back on our OEM orders when we have space on a truck shipment. Unfortunately nothing is in stock right now so it is impossible to coordinate with people when we put in orders. After powder comes back to normal, we can probably help out.
