I can't seem to find any cheap or free places to hunt. Not even pigs that are a F-ing nu sense. All the farmers want you to pay and they get people to pay so I'll just let the crops get trampled and uprooted until the farmers want to let the pigs go for free.

I paid to hunt pigs one time but that was really cheap and more or less all we paid was for room and board. And the best damn cooking I've ever had at any restaurant. I never killed a pig there but I almost cried when I had to leave. That guy could cook!!!!!!!!

Been playing with an idea of a CHL hog-hunt... thinking of a small buy in to go to a RTKBA orginization as a donation. Rules would be along the lines of your first shot must be with your every day carry piece, but there will be a designated "saftey shooter" to back you up... Any ideas?

That sounds pretty tricky if you are talking about hunting in the wild. It's hard enough to come across the hogs in a spot & stalk, much less to get close enough to do any good with a defensive handgun. Then, you have to hope they are a decent shooter to hit the target zones for a kill......with most of the hogs, at that point, running towards or away from the shooter.

I don't know how you would do that with a group. My experience has been that in stalking prey, the number of prey you find is inversely proportional to the size of the group hunting the prey.

It just sounds difficult to implement....

Yeah, what the hell would you want to do that for???

You do not seem to have a clue about hunting and hunter ethics with statements like this.

Your CHL handgun is designed to shoot people ...defensively. Unless you carry a .454 Alaskan, do not be an inhumane peckerwood and shoot an animal with your freakin 9mm,.40,.45,.380 CHL gun.

Yes pigs are a major problem in Texas but they deserve a clean kill.

Where do some of y'all get these ideas?

As for the stalk, like I said, alot of problems to work out. And for being an "in-humane pecker wood" maybe, that is your opinion, and you are entitled. Ethics, I fail to see an ethical issue here, I am not talking about shooting it and allowing it to limp around. I am fully aware of what my handgun is designed to do, are you? and as stated above I am looking for ideas. That implies that your opinion is valued, as in I asked for it, as in name calling is not necessary at this point.

I don't know about hogs. I was toying with the idea of shooting a deer with my .40 last season but never had time to put a plan in motion to get as close as I wanted. (15 yards or less) I wouldn't try it on a hog personally. I definitely would only try it with something that starts with a 4, Like 44, 454, 460, 0r 500. I knew a guy that would run pigs with dogs and kill them with a .40 and he said the guy he was with used a 44 mag. I wasn't with them but I have no reason to doubt his claims. I have to admit tho, I don't think that all around it is a very good idea to try hogs with your EDC. Just my $.02

I happen to be well aware of what of what handguns will do to pigs. It is a big part of my job to control the population. I killed 211 last year. How about you? A "carry piece" hunt is something someone who is completely uneducated on hunting and ethical shooting would do.

If you have one in a trap, fine. Having a backup shooter to finish off your wounded animal is just sick. Let me just say, bring enough gun to do it clean, or do not do it at all.

Sounds pretty much like you are talking about shooting it and letting it limp around.

Let me say, I am not a hunter... I shoot other things. As far as the guilt of a "clean kill" I dont think I need to talk to you about that. I started my post by saying that it was an idea some of us were talking about. In other words, I was looking for opinions, I guess I definatley got Hoji's!
