    Has anyone sent theres in?

I have a problem with the recall procedure. I dont like fed ex, Im never home when they make deliveries( Im a working man I work 50 hours dark to dark) and they wont ship the pistol to a ffl. Im to the point of heck with them, selling the xds and getting the r51.

Ive never had anything good happen with a recall in vehicles, power tools etc, its always been a problem for me.

If you bought from an FFL see if they will accept it upon return from Springfield. BTW I sent mine in at the start of the recall and it took two months to get it back. It should not take as long now, for more info you can go to the XD-s discussion room on XD talk Forum. Most folks seem to have gotten good results but some like me got their XD-s back with a crappy trigger pull, I sold mine.

oh my gosh - you drop the gun off at a fedex facility

they ship it back requiring a signature - so you're not home - that means you go back to the fedex facility (like a Kinkos) and sign for it

you're making this a bigger deal than it is......my xds repair was about as painless as it gets

you seriously cant drop off a box at a fedex and pick it up the same way??

Bought it from academy, back in september. Ive heard them coming back with a 11 pound trigger pull.

When I bought my XD-S NIB the trigger pull measured 5.5lbs and very crisp. The trigger pull was one of the reasons I bought the gun. When it came back from recall the trigger measured 9lbs and mushy. I used the advice from XD talk and without taking anything apart got the trigger pull down to 6.5 lbs and only a little mushy. As I had already replaced the XD-S with a Glock 30 S and did not feel like dealing with SA again I sold the XD-S to a fellow who wanted one and liked the trigger.
When I worked at Academy in 2011 we offered to send and receive firearms from warranty work as long as the firearm was bought at Academy. I do not know if that still applies.

Wow, haven't heard that but I haven't been following this on XDTalk lately either!

I still haven't sent my XD-S in and I'm not really sure if I'm going to bother. I've tried to replicate the "issue" and it still doesn't happen with my pistol. I still carry and shoot mine, and have no qualms in doing either.

    Cheers! M2

My biggest gripe about the whole thing is it took 3 months to get mine back. The trigger does seem slightly heavier but it's not terrible, definitely not the worst trigger ever.

agreed ... mine came back and I was very concerned.

But a trip to the range found that at ~20' the bad guy would be bleeding from 8 different holes.
And I could do it again with the free magazine.

Grouping was a little wide, but I never bought the gun as a target pistol.

    Overall, I'm OK with it.

But, in hind-sight ... I wouldn't have sent it in.

I sent mine in and was in the first batch to be repaired. It was very painless from start to finish. I dropped mine off at a fedex location used one of the Fedex provided boxes with a little bubble wrap and sent it on it's way. It took about 2 months to get the gun back. I work long hours like you. I called Fedex right after I received the tracking number and had them re-route the delivery straight to a Fedex/Kinkos center close to my house and I picked it up around 9:30pm. I don't feel much difference in my trigger from before. A lot of people just want to complain because they were slightly inconvenienced having to send their gun in. As with most things you hear more people complain than people who are satisfied.
