AK-74 Assembly

I am looking to buy an AK-74, But I need to know how much money to set aside and I am exploring the options. It'll take you about $700 or more to assemble your first rifle -- $250 for the receiver you want with shipping and/or FFL fees if applicable, plus a parts kit for $300 plus $100 for a replacement barrel with finish applied, then the necessary tools to bend and rivet the parts kit together; you'll need a hydraulic press to rivet the rifle together, and/or a set of GO/NO GO gauges to properly head space the rifle.

Since you already have a pre-made receiver, you will save on the up-front cost of a bending jig, and a way of heat-treating the receiver. However, it should be noted that unless you intend to do this with at least 5 or so kits, you'd actually save more money buying a pre-made one that has already been built by an experienced builder and has all possible quality issues addressed.
