So I picked up a Class C Misedemanor the other day and went to jail and plead guilty and basically paid a 300 dollar fine and they let me out. Upon leaving they gave me my licence back (CHL). Quesiton is, is my privilage over with on legally carrying my CHL with my handgun. Now I was NOT convicted in a cour of law, basically just a Class C misdemeanor which I paid the fine and that is that. No court dates or anything, it is over and done after paying the fine. So is my CHL gonna me revoked or am I still in the clear? Any help would be great. Thanks for any help!

and you plead guilty and paid the fine, I believe that is a conviction, and what the Class C was for makes a huge difference

It depends on what you plead guilty to.

They did not revoke your CHL so the issue will most likely be tabled until you attempt to renew it.

What did you plead guilty to?

If it was related to family violence or disorderly conduct, yes... if not it depends on what you were convicted of, paying the fine is the same as a conviction.

Geez, I saw the thread and couldn't believe it was still going after the one hit wonder.

My faith is restored in the membership however. Well, except that no one had another good follow up to the "failure to appear" reply.

I don't either, but give me time. Oh wait, they must have giving him the time!! (I knew I could do it )

I've been watching this post since it went up and I surprised no one has made any comments along these lines - Maybe he needs his CHL revoked, can't be responsible enough to avoid the kind of trouble that would cause it to be revoked!!!!
    Just my !!!!

I really doubt will get him out of jail, but if we all continue to put our in, we may raise enough money to bail him out

Hey all I did not go back to jail, lol just been REALLY busy with life. OK for the record, I called the Houston help line (311) and gave them my DL number and and the charge I plead guilty to and paid the fine for was "assault", nothing more, nothing less. Thats all they show, assault SO knowing this I know it is a Class C misdemeanor. So I am still good right? I mean, in the back of the car, I gave the officer my CHL and got it back upon release. I assume I am still good, am I correct? The assault was not for domestic or anything like that, the record shows assault.

Assault on who? If any sort of 'domestic' relationship exists, you're now prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm forever.
