I went to an IDPA meet at Shiloh today and noticed everyone there was using OWB hip holsters that are well....not exactly practcal for concealment without winter clothing. (which is like 5 days a year in houston)

Question: does anyone here shoot IDPA or other competition from a concealed style holster?

I use don hume pancake holsters that I also conceal with. They are flat and tuck the pistol into your body. They are also leather and hold the pistol in real well with no retaining straps. You will see alot of kydex paddle holsters out there for Idpa they are no good for concealing but not against Idpa rules.

I use an OWB Comp-Tac paddle but see plenty of people at IDPA matches using IWB. If you are shooting IDPA solely to increase your skill for concealed carry definitely use whatever holster and pistol it is you carry everyday. Many people start out this way but somewhere along the line they get more competitive and start using a full size gun and OWB holster. Either way will quickly increase your gun handling and shooting skills, just practice with whatever you prefer.

In an unrelated note I managed to break off my front sight practicing for the IDPA Texas State match today. It's going to be fun finding, installing, and sighting in a new one before next weekend.

I think according to the rule book it has to be in line with the center of your side like the three. I think you will find that more proficeint to draw from than a sob position. If your right handed does your grip face the right. Printing is when the pistol shows through your clothing.
