It wasn't but a couple weeks ago that we were looking at 85+ day waiting times for new applications. I've done some calculations based on those who have applied and received their card, end-to-end, and we are down to exactly 60 days waiting time as of 2/7/2014 for applications that were sent in between 12/7/2013 and 12/12/2013.

IF the waiting times keep going down like they have been, then mathematically the waiting time for someone who applied on the 1st of January (last month) would be 45 days best-case. This is IF the DPS will continue to keep the new hires on at this rate through the foreseeable future.

Something tells me they will only hire enough to keep the 60 day requirement, though. In 2012 it wasn't uncommon to have a < 30 day wait, door-to-door...perhaps we'll see that again soon.

    Don't bet on it.

I got my "We have received the documents attached to your email." response from TX DPS on 12/5/2013.

    And my status is still:
"License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."

To what 60 day requirement are you referring?

Sent all my stuff on 12/10. Status updated to "mailed" on 2/6. Thought I might get it today which would be exactly 2 months but alas no. Maybe tomorrow,, 2 months and 1 day. We'll see.

Do you have anything bad on your record that they would need to investigate? If not, I might call this week if nothing changes.

Updated calculations are giving me as fast as 45 days now. Those who have confirmed receipt of their materials as of 12/30/2013 should be receiving their cards today through Monday.

    DISCLAIMER: There are always exceptions.

Just got mine today. Used the mail system, did not upload via the internet. Live in Cedar Park so close to DPS as the crow flies. 53 days mailbox to mailbox.

Yah know. I lived in Oregon...once upon a time....Im much better now thanks...

Anyhow there was a clause in the Oregon CHL Law that required the Sheriff's Office (Each County is Responsible for CHL's there) to issue the card @ 45 days if no reason can be found to deny the application.... Maybe a call to my local state reps office is in order. I would hate for a future DPS head to make it 6 months or something crazy.

3 weeks and still waiting on documents. I'm guessing this is normal??

Yep. My status check page said that for several weeks. Called once and emailed once, told both times they had all my stuff. The website is a poor reflection of your app process.

I sent in my paperwork around January 20th. I just checked the website and they don't list my paperwork as received yet. Has anyone else had this long of a wait? I've gathered from reading that this process takes time and I'm trying to have patience but two months to scan in my paperwork seems a bit much. I'll keep waiting and hoping.

I submitted my paperwork online on 2/25, called to check if they received on 02/28 was told that i just had to wait, even though i didnt receive an email. so i called again on the 3rd and it turns out they didnt receive my chl-100. was kinda ticked off that the first time i called the rep didnt even bother looking up my info. these guys must love not handing out CHL's. hopefully itll get in before my bday. looks like expected wait time is about 90 days or so?

I am glad I went ahead and turned my stuff in before the law change. 2 weeks from ship date to it being in my mailbox.
