Well, I finally decided to order from Freedom Munitions. Pretty good price on 9mm. But, I learned something new today. They are shipping it from Idaho. All this time I thought it would be coming from Houston. Tracking shows it went from ID to WA, then OR. Scheduled for delivery on Thursday.

I guess they don't ship out of Houston, which is only about 170 miles from here. Anyone know if they actually manufacture ammo in Houston, or is that just an outlet store?

Why do they charge state tax for a product made in, and shipped from Idaho? Probably due to the physical location in Texas.

Anyway, the main thing is, I was surprised that it comes from Idaho.

They have a presence in Texas so sales tax is collected. Cabelas is the same. Not sure of the manufacturing site.

I won't be buying ammo from WMT and Academy from now on (9 & 380) - WMT raised their price on 100 count WWB 9mm from $22.97 to $26.37 !

Their manufacturing plant is in Idaho. One of the owners lives here in Houston and that's why they have a store here.

Since this was my first order from FM, I only ordered 250 rds of new 9mm. The shipping was $12.76.

That's still fairly cheap for 9mm these days. It might be a bit more expensive at FM, but I haven't seen any 100 round WWB at Walmart in a long, long, time. I don't know if there is any truth to it, but I have heard that Freedom Munitions charges more at their B&M than they do on line. Let us know what your experience is.

They charge slightly more at the storefront. Costs money to have people staffing it and to pay the rent.

I just ordered 1000 9mm FMJ and with s/h and tax comes out to $13.64 box.

    That's reasonable, imho...

I ran some of Freedom's 300 BLK through a new gun today.

All kinds of issues associated with casings jamming in the breach.

Jammed the bolt closed, when it would run, the bolt wouldn't go all the way closed and the bullet had all kinds of gouges from loading.

Barnes VORTX cycled just fine, though.

I think I've purchased my last Freedom ammo.

Did you let them know about the problems you had? Being a small company they will probably be responsive.
I am apprehensive of using anything but name brand ammo, but the 9mm I bought from them during the drought worked very well. There is a big difference in effort sizing a case for 9mm, than for 300 blk. Let them know and see if they make it right with you.

    You think so?
I figured I was stuck with a few hundred rounds of junk.

    I'll give it a try ...

I wonder if there was some kind of mixup between some 300 whisper and 300 blk brass. I understand that their is a small difference. The .300 is not my area of expertise, maybe someone else will chime in.
Good luck with your effort with Freedom, and post your results. I am curious, and I am sure others are as well.

Will follow up in a few days with a call if I don;t hear anything.

    I'll post any results.

Sent a note via their web app on Saturday.

Tuesday morning an e-mail from FM CS asking for more information to which I supplied Tuesday evening
Wednesday morning was given options to which I responded and quickly thereafter, FM and I came to an agreement that made me whole.

As seen above I was more than skeptical that a reasonable resolution could be met, but I am very pleased with Freedom's quick response and the way they conducted themselves.

I appreciate IXLR8's coaching in making contact. He was 100% correct. Lesson learned.

I have bought at the store front at Jones Rd and 290. Kinda small place so I doubt there is any loading going on there. Never had an issue with the ammo where ever it comes from.
