Well I think I'm in for it now. Like I said in the title, I've got all the symptoms. The always looking even when I'm with my one and only, I'm looking up the pictures on the Internet, every time I see one I think to myself "that would look great in my bedroom with nothing on it", I'm starting to look at the prices and thinking "yeah that's expensive but just once wont hurt anything". Yes boys it's true all the symptoms are there. I finally told my wife last night. I think I'm coming down with the ............DON DON DOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!! BLACK RIFLE FEVER!

Got over that ailment way back when. What cured it was no more free or cheap ammo.
From time to time I do get to thinking how it would be nice to have another one, but then when I think about the cost to feed it, I just say NO!!!

Here are the ones I like! Not in order just some that caught my eye for a good price.
the M&P 5.56
http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.aspx?PartNumber=SW-811021
Another M&P
http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.aspx?PartNumber=SW-311000
A Bushmaster only thing I don't like is it is a 223. And I want a 5.56 w/a chromed chamber and barrel, but I could live with this.

And this is what my Uncle has in his patrol car and I kinda like it. Bushmaster "Texas M4" Look at the reliability test that Texas DPS did to these. http://www.gtdist.com/M4-specsheet.pdf This makes me like it more.

I'm not sure if I can buy the riffles at GT's but for the sake of this drool add I'm using there extensive selection. I want a good plinker but I also want a good fighting rifle for the SHTF insurance. I doubt my wife will let me buy one anyway.

Hey, BC, get a shot for it now, while you still have a chance. If you dont, it could be too late.........you will end up owning 5 of them~

It's a bad fever. But as bad as it is, just stay completely away from the M14/M1As and Garands. Wood and steel is really infectious. Once you've heard and felt that bolt cycle, you're truly doomed.

Thought about your fever today, at the Pasadena Gun show. Lots of AR's under 1K. I saw a RRA CAR A4 for $849.00 NIB. Last gun show they were going for $1000 to 1100.

I bought a S&W M&P 15 a few days ago off of gunbroker for $899 waiting for it to arrive, then its off to the range for a breaking in ceremony LOL. Picked up 180 rounds of .223 at Cabelas for $10.99/20 rounds. Need to find some bulk ammo for a descent price though. I agree this "Black Gun" fever takes over really quick. Wonder what kind of response you would get if you went to the doctor complaining of having that fever LOL.

I still don't have the fever. However, the longer I think about keeping people off my property, the closer I inch to the disease. 1700' x 1300' is a lot of territory to defend and protect.

I need a "Black Guns For Dummies" book, maybe two.
I think I need that book to. After I read the basic needs of a fighting rifle, I've decided that I want a chrome chamber/barrel, and a full feed ramp (?) I'm not sure that is the right terminology, but I want something that I can fight with if I have to.

I agree with you Big Country.....

I went to the Ft. Worth gun show this weekend.... the ARs were still at $1000 stripped down....

Going to wait until I can get what I want.

The BRD is really getting bad... but I do not want to jump out and buy the 1st thing I see.

I can get them from GT distributors form what I hear, and their prices never went sky high. They went up a little but not like the rest of the market. I'm in that boat tho, I'm not jumping on the first thing I come across I'm waiting for a while and do some research and get what I want. I really just want a regular rifle 16'' or so with the removable carry handle so that if I want to scope it I can. But mainly I just want some night sights and some mags, that is all you need for an effective fighting/plinking riffle.
