    damn

What a night that was. The parents are probably off in their own mischief. The homeowner was undeniably the righteous one here. Not only were they invading his home but what exactly did the teens have in mind bringing in weapons?? In general it sucks that kids are left to wonder astray to become the rest of the worlds problem. We all know that this would have been just the beginning had they gotten away with what ever they had planned on. It is still a happy ending in my opinion, the homeowner and his family are safe and sound. I imagine the parents will be on the news bellowing "how could this happen!"

I'm glad there are 2 less thieving scumbags on the streets, and a 3rd and 4th probably will question if it's worth it. Let them rot in hell.

I agree. It's a shame though they forced the innocent homeowner into that life changing situation. I can imagine that I would feel horrible after having to do such a thing and would likely hold a great deal of resentment towards the person who felt necessary to put me in that type of situation.

It's the selfishness of the people that got wasted. Not only are they unwilling to work honestly for their wants and needs, but they are going to steal the mental well-being of the people living there too.

They got what they had coming to them, and I hope many more learn their lesson.

Most of the people interviewed were supportive of the home owner, but of course one person, a college girl, was naive enough to say she thought it was "harsh". I guess some people live in la-la land. It's all fuzzy bears and rainbows until YOUR door gets kicked down at 2 AM, and you get robbed and/or raped. Then it's a tragedy, and it should have never happened.

I hope my door never gets kicked at 2AM... I have trouble deciding whether to go handgun or rifle, it's such a PITA.

I was thinking 12ga. Pistol is closest, but if I have the time I'm grabbing the boomstick with 7 rounds of 3" 000buck. Of course the pistol is a .45 so the shockwave alone will incapacitate them.

I have heard that you dont even have to fire it if it is a 1911, you simply say "I have a 1911" and the bad guys turn to dust and blow away in a Holy wind.....

    Hitting home

I have to say I'm watching this case with a close eye as I used to work right across the street from that house at the Rec Center. I also lived just a couple blocks away, and still live in San Marcos.

So far it doesn't look like SMPD isn't going to press charges (God bless em). However if it goes to court I hope the jury No-Bills this so fast the ink of the docket doesn't even have time to dry. This case couldn't be more clear cut. Three miscreant teens armed with weapons in a home that they had no business in, whoops. A lesson hard learned, but the parents are learning a harder one.

Of course on the 10pm news from Austin showed a neighbor/aunt/teacher/acquaintance/whoever in Luling who was crying and mourning their demise. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not so callused to say that it isn't tragic. Any time a kid dies it is a tragedy. However when they die breaking the law, and violently at that, I have a real hard time feeling sorry for them.

I'm with the rest of you saying this is a parentalFAIL, and they are paying dearly for their ineptitude at parenting. Three 16yr olds, and a 17yr old, trying to enter a house at 2AM with a handgun and 2 pellet guns on a school night no less 20 MILES from where they live....:banghead:

I'm sorry but if anybody other than the homeowner wants sympathy from me they're going to have to look in the dictionary between shit and syphillis (pardon my language). I really hope the "moral outrage" of idiots who thinks this guy didn't have the right to do what he did doesn't negatively affect his life, it's been messed with enough already.

These perps were kids the way a young feral dog is a puppy. This probably wasn't the first time they'ld tried a break-in/home invasion. At least for a couple of them, it was the last time!!

my opinion they got what they deserve, who cares how old they were wrong place wrong time. 20 bucks says the parents try to sue.

these scum-sucking sonsofbitches got exactly what they deserved. if anyone ever breaks in my house while I'm home, their stomach is gonna have a lot of birdshot lodged in it. i just hope I end up shooting em on the back porch, instead their guts spilling all over our carpet. that would be a shame.

I won't threaten what I might do if the door was kicked open or a window and two legged varmints entered uninvited with theft and/or mayhem on their minds....

But there is always a 1911 within reach in condition one, Jeff Cooper style. That is cocked and locked, jacketed hollowpoints....

3 dogs here capable of sounding an alarm, night or day.... Paranoid ? Nope, just aware of possibilities...
