Hornaday warranty and customer service!

After nearly 20 years my old Hornaday Pro-Jector press needs to go back to the factory.
Started having indexing issue over the past few months; adjusted this screw, that pawl, this cam toggle, ect…. and the indexing would not stay tuned or dialed in.

This press has loaded thousands upon thousands of rounds. I have owned RCBS and Lee presses as well and this Hornaday has given the best service of all of them. This is the 1st time that I have had anything other than minor normal wear issues. I’ve loaded ammo on the early Dillon’s and still the Hornaday press gave less trouble than the Dillon’s. Just an outstanding product IMO!

Called Hornaday this morning and spoke to their senior press tech, after about 30 minutes on the phone trying various adjustments he finally said, “Send it to me.” He stated it sound like there were a number of worn parts and the combination of all the wear was why the problem could not be adjusted out.

He explained they would repair, replace and update any parts free of charge other than shipping the press to them.

Outstanding customer service from everyone I spoke with there; friendly, knowledgeable and prompt service.

I just wanted to share this so those thinking about getting into re-loading can see that Hornaday makes a product that last and their warranty and customer service is Top Shelf!!!!

Thanks for the info. I was looking into getting a new press but I had not heard anything about their presses.

Glad I'm getting a Hornady press. Sounds like they have awesome customer service reps. I actually talked to a Hornady guy at Cabelas in Boise Idaho yesterday as I'm just getting into reloading just to find out what I need to get started. They're still doing the 1000 free bullets with an L&L AP, 100 free bullets when you buy a Hornady Die set, so I'm going to jump on that as it ends December 31st. $421 for the L&L AP.

The press came back day before yesterday.
11 day turn around from the day I shipped it to them - man that was fast!
They updated many of the old Pro-Jector parts to the newer L-n-L parts. I set it up last night and ran off 100 rounds of 45acp and then set up for a run of 44 mag ammo; it has never run as well as it does now!!!!
They polished the ram, replace all the roll pins, cams, toggles, primer tube holder, primer arm plate, primer arm and spring and some of the parts located inside the ram as well as two of the cross shafts for the ram.
I have own RCBS, Lee and run many a Dillion but I have to say overall my Hornaday is the best hands down.

I can't speak for any other of the reloader mfg's, but Dillon has every bit of quality, performance and their NO B.S. warranty. What that means, if it breaks or don't work, Dillon WILL make it right.

I use to live close to there and went to their corp. hqtrs all the time.

There may be some as good, but NONE BETTER then my XL650......I'm just sayin....

Way back when Dillon was young I help a commercial re-loader reload and ran several Dillon's. They were awsome other than set up or a prblem occured somewhere and screwed the timing up. These were fully automated other than pulling the handle.

At that Time I owned a early Lee 1000 progressive.

Later I bought an RCBS and that was a great press. It exceeded what the Lee could do but not what the Dilllon would do.

I went into a gun store one day and the owner who knew me very well offered to sell me This Hornaday Pro-Jector progressive press for cost. Well knowing him I asked why the good deal. He responded " They are planning on releasing a upgraded model in a month and I want to get ride of this one so I can stock only the new model".

The price was right and I made him sweetin the CASH deal buy throwing in a LB or powder. Back then is was only $12.00 lb.

Long story short. Best press I ever ran. Easy to set up, easy to index and primer system is fool proof.

The deal is people have Bad, fair, good and Great experiences as it pertains to their loading press's. I am sure that if a new Dillon where to fall in my lap I would be a great product.

Brand loyalty is all I can say.

I have spent many hours looking at the Dillon and often wondered if they got some of the quirks worked out of the early models. The press ran fine it was the automated brass hopper and the bullet feed that always screwed up and that was always a timing issue.

Oh well my 2 on Dillon and Hornaday.
