I don't begrudge anybody for voting for Dewhurst under the circumstance, but the bottom line for me is that he's had his chances and didn't take advantage of them as well as he should have. It's time to give somebody else a shot. Wish it was Patterson, but it is what it is. I gotta go with Patrick.

Dewhurst doesn't deserve re-election. Patrick may not be that great, but he's different and at this point, I'll take my chances on that versus a knowningly useless politician...

Exactamundo. I will also say that all Dewhurts seems to be able to do is blow obscene amounts of money on attack ads. At least Patrick can say what he intends to different.

Really don't like Patrick. Don't like Dewhurst either, but at the moment, I'm leaning toward not liking Dewhurst less than Patrick.

Patrick. He professes to be a Christian and openly talks about his faith. I've never heard Dewhurst mention God or Jesus. I forgive Patrick for his bankruptcy since that happens to a lot of entrepeneurs.

Couldn't tell you about either of em, but I'm prejudice towards not voting for a perry henchmen.

    What's so bad about Patrick?

Most folks were unimpressed with the smear campaign he ran against Patterson; but considering the latter's poor showing at the polls, I wonder if there was something about him that I just didn't see. Patterson seemed like the logical choice but when he endorsed Dewhurst after he lost I was really surprised.

To be honest this lieutenant governor's race has me stumped, but as I stated in this previous thread, Dewhurst has had his opportunity and blew it...

Patrick may not be much better, but I am willing to give him a chance and hope for the best. There really isn't much of a choice here, but this is one of those instances where I will vote against the incumbent simply because he is the incumbent...

The fact that Dewhurst is such a low blow thrower and worthless at having any semblance of a backbone is why I wont vote for him. The fact that in his attack ad he shows Patrick without a shirt on and only a sport coat tie that he knows damn well was from when Patrick did a "shirt off my back" charity auction and tries to act like thats some derogatory photo of Patrick is beyond sleazy. Patrick is not the guy I want for Lt gov but short of being a democrat Dewhurst is about as bad as it gets.

Please tell me I have another choice. I don't want either one of them. I want Patterson.

That said, I will probably vote for Dewhurst on the premise that sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. I listened to Patrick in the debates and I just don't trust him. At least with Dewhurst I know what I am getting.

Edited to add: The real deciding factor for me is that the guy I wanted (Patterson) picks Dewhurst over Patrick. If I have to choose between the 2, I'll follow the lead of the guy I wanted.

Used to listen to Patrick on the radio years back, and I really liked what he said then. I understand the realities of politics, but that only goes so far. IMO, Patrick has not lived up to his words back then, and his words back then are what arguably got him into office in the first place. That said, I will indeed cast my vote for him if he wins the runoff.
