A 25-year-old woman has been sentenced to up to four years in prison for lying on firearm transaction documents when she bought guns used by a man to kill two New York volunteer firefighters on Christmas Eve 2012.

Evidently he was a prohibited person (felon) and she made a straw purchase. Instead of facing federal charges and time, the state convicted her of the equivalent of a fraud charge.

For all the rhetoric and laws, when they have something they can actually prosecute, they don't. <sigh>

Well, it would be pretty silly to throw the book at her for the actions of an evil assault rifle.

If the guy who committed the act had been locked up for the rest of his life after killing his grandmother with a hammer, this whole thing wouldn't have happened in the first place.

Or those 30 round clips in a magazine. My ghost gun can fire off all that in half a second. Ghost guns are bad because they cannot be seen!

Never underestimate the stupidity and hypocrisy of New York where guns are concerned.

    ^ This.

I lived there for a few frigid years and saw the state punish people for incredibly minor things, yet there was a thriving illegal gun business going on. The Hudson River Valley (Albany to NYC) lives in a vacuum that ignores all reality.
