5200+ miles, the family had a great time.

Here are the welcome signs we took pics of, missing the Missouri sign, but have it from another trip.

Looks like ya'all had a great trip. I always looked forward to the road trip vacations when I was a kid, and we took ours on a few, though not as extensive as the one you did. Not too many families do that anymore, in favor of amusement parks and the like, which is sad.

I wanted to spend time with the family but also instill a love for America into my boys.

We stayed for the lighting ceremony at Rushmore. As the presentation went on, all active, prior, & retired military were asked to gather on the stage for a flag lowering ceremony. The Ranger had 6 of us volunteer to lower and fold the flag. She then walked the flag to each of us and asked us to place our right hand on the flag, to state our name, and state the branch we served under.

As I looked around at all the old men, the older (than me) men, and the 3 younger (by a generation) people (2 women, 1 guy) I was moved.

When it was my turn to touch the flag, I thought about the people standing next to me, the fathers carved into the mountain above me, and what DOHbama & his ilk are trying to do to our great country. My voice cracked, my throat swelled, I scrunched my face and blinked my eyes as fast as I could...
