I just won an auction on gunbroker for a Smith and Wesson M&P .40 compact. Winning price $459.00 +$20.00 shipping + $20 FFL transfer fee totalling $499.

Same weapon at Cabela's is $579.99, $569.99 at local gun store. I would of had to pay tax on those coming out to $617.01-$627.84

What do you guys think? good deal? i'm feeling i kind of rushed buying it.

I just looked at the M&P9c and the M&P40c at Bass Pro yesterday. Prices there were $579 for the 9mm and $599 for the .40 caliber. Academy is usually less expensive than BPS but I don't think they'd be over $100 less. I think you got a good deal

Your price is ok. I bought my MP 9c at a local gun shop/range (The Bullet Trap, Plano, Tx) for $499.00 plus tax (.0825%) less my membership discount, which came to about the same price you are paying, out the door. One advantage of buying locally is that you can walk out the door with it today and you support local merchants.
I got a great deal on my MP 40. But I bought it at a gun show, NIB, on 7/22/2006 for $409.00 + tax . Prices have changed since then due to, you know who, being crowned king of Amerika.

    sounds like a good deal...i just bought a M&P .40 for $595 :( tax free at least

wish i had the same deal you had..

It was one of the few good deals I ever bought, gun wise. It was right after they came out and I think S & W was wholesaling them to dealers at a lower price to get a lot of them in the hands of shooters. They knew they had a good product and expected a lot of word of mouth advertising, which is the best kind. I haven't seen prices like that since then.
I paid full retail for my MP 9c and my MP 9 Pro but I am into instant gratification now, at my age.

Yeah, I checked BT today and price is $569 on the M&P 40c. I think you can get better price. I know one dealer has posted for much less, but still over $500. BT didn't have the 9c that I want in stock. They do have a rental there which I shot yesterday. Very nice; better than the Glock 26 to me.

A friend of mine has a MP 40c ordered through the B.T. I think he is paying about what you were quoted less his membership discount. I must have bought mine at the right time, but at that time, I thought I was paying too much.
