Wish they listed the political party of those mayors. Bet 99% were democrats. Virtually sure the Austin guy is, everybody else there is.

Just bought a gun there yesterday who would have thought today I find the mayor is anti gun.
That little town is littered with gun stores.

    Mayor Nichols

We can scratch mayor nichols off that list in Washington state. He lost his primary.

Sent the following to Mayor Ward - Hurst, Texas:

I noticed that you are the only Mayor in Texas that is a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns which was created by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg as a front group to lobby Congress to oppose important pro-gun reforms and support new federal gun control restrictions.

I would request that you scrutinize the information that led you to your decision to join this group and after thoughtful contemplation consider leaving this anti-gun organization.

    Respectfully submitted,

    David Lambeth

    Got the following reply:

I think you will see an increase in the number of Mayors that become members of MAIG. As you requested, I have
scutinized the information that led me to the decision to join this group and after thoughtful contemplation I am even more convinced that I have done the right thing.

I have attached some of the information I researched along with replies from other folks who have requested I resign from MAIG. I believe you are an intelligent person and will see through the NRA and why they have started this string of lies.

    Here's what i sent him

    Dear Sir,

I have noticed that you are a member of MAIG. I wonder if you know that this group is trying to erode all gun ownership, not just illegal guns. Additionally they work on issues that directly conflict with legal gun ownership. They are for gun control, not crime prevention

This group has misrepresented itself to many mayors, so much so that as to date more than 40 have dropped out. Please reconsider your choice.

    Here's what he sent back

Thanks for your interest and email. Please read the attachment. I will tell you one more time. This group is not out to take any legal gun away from anyone. As to the fact that about 40 mayors have dropped out is good for everyone. If you run scared of being re-elected, you cannot be effective. And do not forget, MAIG gets bigger and bigger every day. As the only Mayor in Texas to belong to MAIG, I get a lot ofattention, but only about 30 citizens have asked me to resign from MAIG.

Why are you so ready to beleive the NRA, but not your own Mayor who has served you well for the last five years?

I believe the NRA because technically they are the oldest civil rights group. Long before the NAACP the NRA stood to make sure that freed black slaves had the right and the means to protect themselves from whites who wanted them unarmed and dead... Pus they have been around a lot longer than you.

As for MAIG getting bigger every day I do believe is false. Your numbers are dropping sir. MAIG is in a minority, and just like ACORN as the truth is exposed about there attentions support is diminished

    * update *

    Mr. Clarke,

Believing some organization because they are the oldest is interesting. MAIG started with 15 of us and is now up to over 450. Sounds like we are growing. Since the NRA has started their slander program, we have added 20 new members. There are always those politicians who cut and run when the going gets rough. Any way, we are not about numbers, we are about trying to get illegal guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals.

    Thanks for your response.

He'll give up when he sees that it's not winnable. He's a politician, and it's easy to go against those you view smaller than yourself.

The TSRA has picked up on this as well, I'm sure he'll get some more from them.
