“Of course he claimed that he didn’t. All this stuff. He took a lie detector test. I had him take a polygraph, which he passed, which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs [laughter].”

She later brags about plea bargaining the guy down to two months time served because the prosecution lost important evidence. Yea- that's something to brag to people about.

Old tapes lead to new scrutiny of Hillary Clinton's defense of an accused rapist

Not that liberals are going to care one wit:

Hillary Clinton defended an accused rapist in 1975. Good.

To them child safety is only important as a vehicle towards banning guns.

Well, just when I thought we couldn't do worse than our current "leader".
The fact that he got reelected damned near makes her a shoe in with this bit of history.

So if your a public defender. A job I would consider to be a Noble one since they are typically very over worked and significantly under paid. How would you have handled this one??

That's what scares me. Even though Americans are thoroughly pissed off, I don't think people's voting habits will change

She wasn't exactly his PD. The guy had a PD but wanted a female lawyer to represent him. His friends asked Hillary to take the job as a favor and she did.

Either way there's no way I'd defend a child rapist (she clearly believed he was). If I'm not mistaken lawyers are allowed to drop you from representation if they believe you are guilty.

Also- whether PDs are overworked or underpaid depends on the State they are in. I think Texas uses a sort of lottery system for this kind of thing? I could be wrong.

This generation would like nothing better than to claim they got the first black president and the first woman president into the history books. Qualifications? what qualifications? You are missing the point..IMO

Obviously, criminal defense attorney is not the right job for you.

This case gives me mixed feelings. I find plenty of reasons to work against Hillary and don't need this one.

Ultimately, though, the right to competent counsel is foundational to our concepts of justice and "innocent until proven guilty." Lawyers who defend clients they know are guilty of horrible crimes are doing a slimy job and they come up stinking but they're still an indispensable part of the process.

I'd have no problem defending someone accused of that crime who I believed was innocent.
Then you could not make a living as a criminal defense attorney. You could, possibly, sign onto an undertaking like The Innocence Project and take great satisfaction in that work...but that doesn't really qualify as "making a living".

In general, if you're not willing to defend the guilty then you can't expect the innocent to get a fair trial, either.
