I've been slowly researching the net for my next gun purchase. it will be my first pistol! and i've read good reviews on the Ruger P435 in .45 Auto.

i've shot friends 1911's and hk .45's and i love the .45 round. but the ruger just seems to be a heck of a deal. anybody have one? or have any other suggestions for a good first pistol. im partial to .45 so any handgun in that caliber is a possibility

I own a Ruger P345, and it's been as reliable as anything I've owned. Has great accuracy, in fact, more accurate than I am. I found it a little heavy for carry, but it does conceal very well. I think it would make a good first for you.

I bought a brand NIB KP345 Stainless as my first bought handgun. My dad had given me a couple, but this one was the first that I bought. from day 1 I loved it. For a light poly gun it handled 230 grn jhp's very well IMHO. My only suggestion would be to make sure you give it a good breakin period. Mine took about 200 to 300 rnds to get that slick smooth feeling. My only regret with it was letting it go. Its a great .45. Buy it and never let it go.

My first pistol was a glock 30 .45 cal. I love it. Very simple and accurate. I've bought and sold many guns but dont think I'll ever let this one go. My first love. The first cut is the deepest. LOL

I had pretty well decided on a Springfield XD-45 when I picked up a new P345 at a gun show dealer's table one day to feel and fondle about three years ago. I immediately fell in love with that wonderful slim grip, and I bought the P345 soon afterwards. I subsequently put just over 3,300 rounds through it and loved it.

I carried the P345 as my primary CCW piece for about a year. Though I never encountered the "click - no bang" problem with mine, I knew that others had and I always had that nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I might do so when the proverbial "chips were down." (You can read more of that issue here:)

I took a friend out shooting with the P345 one day. He fell in love with the gun and I ended up selling it to him. After an extensive period of research (and an opportunity to shoot a PX4 that the person next to me at the range had one day) I then bought a Beretta PX4 Storm in .45 ACP and it has been sheer bliss since then. I've put almost 1,600 rounds through my PX4 and couldn't be happier with a .45. The grip is not quite as thin as that of the P345, but I think the PX4 is one of the coolest-looking pistols I've ever seen. I am absolutely lovin' it! (I still think it's a shame that Ruger never fixed the magazine disconnect problem with the P345.)
