Does it make me old because I remember when GPS was made available?

Does it make me old that I remember when cell phones were the size of a shoe box. Now they have shrunk down to the size of a deck of cards and they squeezed GPS in them.

First one I used was the size of a briefcase and bit heavy. I was moonlighting as a driver for a friend's limo service, we used it to call in if something went wrong.

Before going to New Mexico to dirt ride the desert, I practiced locating soccer field cones in a huge empty field in Baytown. The area was 30-40 acres and covered in tall weeds. I land marked every cone, went riding, then searched with the "Go To" GPS function.

The GPS would get me within about 30 feet as they dialed in a random error for civilian use. I never lost a cone.

In the desert, I attached the GPS to the front fender with Velcro and followed direction of travel/destination arrows.

A huge stone cistern was land marked as "Tank 42" and I went 20-25 miles out in the desert. After entering "go to Tank 42", I let the GPS guide me back. When the front wheel came over the last hill, it was pointed directly at "Tank 42!"

I land marked a cow skull as "Noodle" way the heck out in the desert. If we ever get back there, I'll retrieve it!
