Always one of my biggest fears when selling a weapon that it might later end up with a criminal. The truth is with modern forensic computing (including cell phones) everything and everybody can be tracked.

Act in compliance with the law and in good faith, there is no way to communicate with a buyer or seller without leaving that forensic trail.

That's why I refuse to use cell phones, computers, or the internet.

I've conducted a few out of the trunk transaction myself. I use a detailed BoS where I can write down all buyer information including Name, Address, DoB, Place of Birth, Mother's Maiden Name, Spouse's Name, License Plate, Intended Use of the Gun, A Signed Promise Not to Do Bad Things, spaces for all 10 finger prints and a space to tape a hair sample. I am generous though, I provide the tape.

No blood or DNA sample? How do you sleep at night?

I always offer the buyer the chance for me to give him a bullet sample he can pull out of his chest to check if the gun was used in a crime

Police 'trace' a gun by contacting MFg/Dist and finding the FIRST sale. From there they go from sale to sale. Beyond that , TEXAS is NOT the only LEO's you may need to deal with. Feds are not so nice. I have never sold a gun, but have bought a few. For MY protection I would never sell a gun or car/truck without a BOS, no need to get stupid with it, just date serial# and DL# of buyer, and the signature of a trusted witness!

I moved here from Maryland, THERE you now need to do ALL face to face transfers at an FFL, or for free at any MD State Police barracks! That kind of stupidity CAN HAPPEN here if we do not police our own.
Common sense - every word here is read by those who want to destroy the 2nd. Please do not feed them.

No one will ever get my DL number.

    Trusted witness...that's laughable.

If you want your BoS to mean anything you'd better add a notary to the equation.

Honestly, that crap will only happen here if the state has fallen to the libs, and then it will happen regardless.

That crap will happen here if more people keep requiring a BOS. It will seem normal so a law requiring it or more will get little resistance.

    A BOS is worthless.
