So I currently have a Burris Scout scope (2.75x fixed) on my M1A. The eye relief is "okay" but right at the range where a quick acquisition is not guaranteed. But worst of all, the scope/mount and the far-forward rail on the rifle has the lens almost even with the front of the action. And, as you can imagine, it doesn't take long for crap to start speckling my sight picture.

I am thinking of either getting just a red dot/reflex sight and moving it further down the rail, or getting a higher-powered scope with the tube going directly over the action and the lens being closer to the back of the receiver.

So, my question is, for people with M1As, what's your optics situation? Do you have any recommendations? I'm up for both reflex or magnification. I have a Ruger Gunsite in .308 so I have a decent magnified .308 already, but I wouldn't be against having another. :)

    Thanks!
