I am meeting with Gene Williams (Princeton, Tx.) Saturday morning to discuss a caliber conversion I want to make to one of my Remington 700 rifles. I do not know much about this fellow. Have any of you had dealings with Gene?

He tells me he will use a Bartelin 6.5 Creedmoor 5R barrel to make my caliber conversion.
Again, I have no personal knowledge of this brand of barrel. The internet shows me this barrel company get high marks for quality and performance. Anyone have hands on experience with one of these barrels?
    Thanks.

Met with Gene Saturday morning. Very nice guy and he seems to know a lot about building custom rifles. He broke my rifle down and discussed each issue he found. Before I left I had a good idea of everything he would be addressing during the conversation.
I got to his house at 10am and left at 11:30am. Gene's wife came home and joined Gene and I in the garage. We sat around discussing all of the world's problems and then whether she should thaw out some perch for dinner.
    They are a nice couple.

Final price for the conversion with the Bartelin barrel, blueprinting the action, bedding the action, a tactical bolt knob, and a TriggerTech 2 lb trigger was $1,060.00. The other gunsmith wanted $1,500 for the same work, less the new trigger. Gene also promised the rifle's return within 30 days, whereas the other guy had it seven months and never touched it.

This will be my first custom built rifle conversion. I had Wilson build a 9mm Classic for me a few months ago.
This could get addictive really easy.
