Anyone have or know anything about the PSA PA10 .308 Win rifles, they have an 18" for $699 and a 20" for $949. Are these guns a decent quality or are they junk? What are your thoughts on 18" vs 20"?

    Thanks

I have heard of issues but they sell a ton of them so take it for what it's worth. No personal experience.

18" (or 16") will do anything most buyers need to do. 20" if you want to shoot to 1000 yards but it will need some upgrades first.

I know a guy that has a very nice DPMS AR10 in the classifieds.......

Had 3 of their AR15's. All were very nice. Lightweight, and solid shooters. One of the rifles did have a stupid tight fit between the upper and lower, to the point where I had to use pretty good force to get them apart and back together, but it shot very very well and never has any function issues. There are a ton of reviews on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 PA10's on ar15.com in the Palmetto Forum section.

Remember that the pea 10.only accommodates only stoner ar 10 parts. More expensive and just a little harder to find

I really wanted to buy a PA10, but the more I read about them, the less I wanted one.

I'm new to rifles so only know what I read, tho...and the internet is nothing if not a gathering place for complainers LOL

Exactly what I was referring to above. Sell 10k and 20 have issues. You will hear much more about those 20 than the other 9980 that work fine, and that is before the AR snobs get involved.

Most people that get a good one don't rate it so even the online reviews are skewed.

I have seen them as low as $499 there recently. I know the Gen 1's had some problems but so far haven't read anything bad about the newer ones. I would like to pull the trigger on one but am a bit leary.

I have had the same experience but since their business model is based on quantity vs quality, I am always cautious. I see negative reviews on some of their stuff but half of them are people who think their rifles should sparkle like a unicorn, a few who don't know up from down [user error] and them a small chunk of reviews are about actual serious problems. Their stuff is so attractive at the price it is hard not to pass on and even if you do get a lemon it seems like they would take care of you. I am sure I am just going to click "order" one of these days here soon just for shits and giggles. We are in a renaissance as gun consumers and the next few years there are going to be some great deals out there.

Can't say I've done a comparison with PSA, but I'm kind of Windham Weaponry fan as far as AR's go. I'll take quality over the more quantity based manufacturers and pay a little extra.

Yeah Windham, Palmetto State, Smith & Wesson, Ruger are all pretty much on the same level quality wise. FN is next door to PSA and makes all their barrels and a lot of parts for them. PSA isn't sub par at all but I guess I was just alluding to the fact that when your are a big company like them sometimes things slip through the cracks and that when some of those negative reviews pop in. Didn't want to give the wrong impression of Palmetto their stuff is really good and I have and will keep ordering a lot of it :)

Not that I'm really putting down any of them, but Windham Weaponry is the owner and people that made the original Bushmaster AR's before the name was sold to Remington (Freedom Group). Many brands are very good, but Windham has kept their prices pretty decent.

10-4, thats why I didn't put Remington, Bushmaster, or DPMS [Freedom Group companies] on the list, lol :) I think Windham is great, they have a good story and they seem like a good company to support. I would love to have some of the old Bushmaster lowers to build out too!

Recently purchased the lower and upper separately for $580. Put a primary arms 1-6 acss on it. Runs like it should. Fit and finish is pretty nice too
