    You can.

    Detail strip the 1911
    Replace trigger
    Reassemble.
    Easy peasy.
Then adjust the over travel stop if it has one.

Agree. It may take a little fitting with a file but shouldn't need much. Generally they don't though.

Thank you for the responses so far. As far as I know, other than the gunsmith blank, STI does not have a "drop in" flat trigger for the 2011 edge so I was looking to have an SVI flat trigger fitted. If I am incorrect please let me know.

Use the standard 1911 trigger from brownells.
STI is a "pattern" gun. Any aftermarket part will work. Some require a touch of fitting. The trigger is VERY easy to install. Something like a beaver tail safety or ambi safety is a touch harder but manageable.

Everything I've read states a 1911 trigger bow and a 2011 trigger bow are different as well as an SVI trigger bow is wider than an STI trigger bow so the grip or the trigger bow has to be modified to work. Is this incorrect? I must admit I am weary of modifying myself but I might just be psyching my self out.

STI makes two trigger sizes. 1911...single stack...and 2011...double stack.

I use STI triggers in everything that isn't a military 1911...easy to fit, if you know how to take a 1911/2011 all the way apart (you have to pull the receiver off the plastic grip of a 2011 in order to get the trigger out). STI triggers come in plastic or aluminum, have good dimensional consistency, and the pretravel tabs are a wonderful feature not found on crap makers like whoever builds stuff for Colt these days, Springfield "We donate to Democrats and screw over Illinois gun owners" Armory, and other (even lesser) makers.

Step one: Take slide off and break the lower all the way down.

Step two: File the top and bottom of the trigger itself (if necessary) until the trigger and trigger bow slide freely in the grip.

Step Three: Bend the pre-travel tab out a little and rebuild the gun.

Step Four-Twelvish: If the trigger has too much takeup, take the damn thing apart, bend the tab out a bit more, and repeat over and over again until you get it the way you like.

Second to the last Step: Adjust the overtravel stop (when assembled) to your liking.

Last Step: Enjoy a 1911 type trigger as it is supposed to be, short takeup, no over travel...

    Easy.

Oh yea. Your edge is a "double stack" 1911. I missed that completely so yea a standard 1911 trigger will not work.
Since you can't get a flat trigger for your pistol from STI your kind of out of luck. You can always mod the trigger by using a product like acraglass to fill in the skeletonizing and then sanding the face of the trigger flat. It might look a bit like Frankenstein but will work.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've seen where people have put a flat svi trigger in an STI was just hoping there was a Gunsmith local that had done it before. Really want the svi trigger but may have to try my hand at an STI gunsmith blank trigger.

SVI triggers work just the same way, although they tend to take a lot more fitting top to bottom. Plus, Strayer is an asshole but that is a different story!
