Not reasonable. If I could have only one gun, I'd have no problem spending the price of a decent used car (or more) to get whatever I thought was perfect.

That's why there are so many European guns with price tags equal to a house. If the law severely limits what you can have, it only makes sense to buy the best, price be damned.

Well, if a price limit is not reasonable, then as others have said, maybe state the actual situation/need for it.

Expensive can be great, but if it's an "end of the world" situation, are you going to want an expensive, tight tolerance weapon, or a much cheaper, but durable, function through everything type weapon?

As usual, Cam, you ask the right questions to make me think. All through this thread, I've been assuming a legal proscription not a SHTF the situation.

If that were the case, I'd probably steal my sister's Glock 17. :)

Was this recent? Can you pass me the information if it was? I'm not rich either, some save money where others waste it on small things.
I personally wouldn't trade one of my P7's for for 8 Shields, because it's still a shield. A good gun but far from a P7. I get it though, if you've never shot one and just see pistols as a price tag, and there again some people just don't like them, they're not made for everyone. I personally think it's a top 5 pistol of all time. It's the absolutely best striker fired pistol ever made IMO.

    HKaltwasser,

I saw (& contemplated buying) the P7M8 at the last big SA Gun-show from Houston vendor.

ImVho, my "little friend" the S&W Shield is FINE for what I use it for: SELF DEFENSE.
(That said, I have a friend who is a SGT with USPP in DC, used to shoot his P7 at the range & liked it a lot.)

Everybody has "their thing". - Mine is being "addicted to" Remington pump-rifles (I have six in different calibers.), hunting (I planning a trip to Africa for Cape Buff & leopard this Fall.) & antique Mercedes. - Those are where my "mad money" goes.
(My next "fun purchases" are sending another 760 to JES to be remodeled into a .400 Brown-Whelen Improved, for the Africa trip and buying a one-owner 1985 M-B 300CD with 56,000 actual miles.)

As the old carnie saying is: "You pays your money & takes your choice".

    yours, satx

What are the PSPs bringing these days? I'd pay what I could afford for one.
Anywhere from 1,200- 3,500 depending on the gun. P7E's, first run Model PSP's, and KH commercial guns are the most desired . The police trade ins are really for shooters. I got my first police gun for 700, my second police gun for 800, and my third commercial KH PSP marked for 1050 two years ago and it has more than double in price.

To CAM: I agree, this would not be my be all SHTF gun, that would have to go to my Custom Combat. With that said, I've never had a single failure with thousands of rounds through them.

I remember when TopGun Supply was selling them for 450-500 each. I picked up 3 of them. Wish I still had them, the P7 is one of, if not my favorite gun out there.

I'm waiting patiently for the rest of the P7's to hit the market. There are still several German police units using the P7, and I am hoping that when they decide to upgrade, the P7's make their way over here.

    BigBoss0311,

If that happens, I'll be in line for a P7M8, as the German police guns are carried daily but generally seldom fired.
(I bought my P225 surplus from the German Forest Service & while the bluing was somewhat worn the mechanical condition was within the Sig-Sauer tolerance for a new pistol.)

If we're talking a Zombie (or Liberal) Apocalypse, and only able to grab one pistol and go, would have to leave my "favorite" guns behind unfortunately and grab the Glock 17. Only situation I can envision only having one gun :)

    Same here.

If I could score one, I wonder if I could unload a basic, refinished shooter of a PSP with 10 magazines. I'd be willing to let it go for well under market.

Of course, then I'd be off searching for a P7K3 in .22LR.

To make this just a little on-topic: One pistol? I could never do it.
