Still curious as to which guns it is that you've inherited. There's a good chance they could worth keeping. Or someone is gonna want to buy them off you because they want to keep them :)
It would defeat the purpose of the board's rules for him to be permitted to mention what firearms he's got unless/until he's permitted to sell them here. Folks would just try to deal via private message and circumvent the rules.

After having been asked, I had posted info stating what guns they were prior to seeing this so I removed that info.
I intend to follow all forum rules.
Sorry and thanks for pointing that out

Gun shows are a pain to sell at in my opinion. Anybody at a table will offer you pennies on the dollar, like a gun or worse yet pawn shop.

You could carry a sign and only deal with individuals. A pain too.

Sell them here but you have a problem with that to. Besides the 25 posts, you can't list it without a price. Well you don't have a price, that is why you are here.

Join the conversations here and get your 25 posts. Don't just post a "me too, +1, I agree" or whatever, that won't win you any friends here. Add to the conversation.

Once you get 25 posts then show them and ask values. We will give you real answers, not low values so we can score a deal.

Then list them for sale. Like anything, put a little effort in to it and it will pay off.

P.S. don't ever sell to Moonpie. No good will come of it.

    +1, I agree.......me too! :p

I have bought and sold in the aisles at gun shows. It's perfectly legal unless you know the person is not permitted. Even if you did not know or he lied, that's on him. I ask straight up. Are you legal to buy a firearm in Texas? And you do live here right? If you get a bad feeling walk away.
The only gun I have ever heard from the police about was one I sold at a gun show. And even then as the last guy to fill out a form 4473 on the gun they called to say I could claim it as all the legal proceedings were over. That was a decade after I sold the gun. Once sold you have no way of knowing or any responsibility for that gun. The new owner (like you are now) can do what he likes, it's his gun, not yours.

Good info here but it sounds like a gun show wouldn't be the best option.

Gun shows aren't a bad option as long as you steer clear of the low-balling dealers. Remember that most people attend them to buy guns, so it's a good pool of potential customers. If I see someone selling (or even just carrying) a firearm, I check to see if it's for sale as you'll get a better deal on a private transaction that from most of the vendors.

There's a similar topic on another gun forum that I replied to.

Most of my handguns I own were bought in MI where handguns are registered. Any LE Agency running the serial number of one of them will show me as the owner. Also any firearm purchased from an FFL will show who and when a particular gun was purchased. Have law enforcement reviewed the archived 4473's from a dealer looking for a specific gun? Sure they have.

When I sell one of my guns to someone I want proof that I no longer own it. I fill out a receipt, with the buyer's name and date they bought the gun - so I have proof I no longer own the gun if it was found to be used in a crime.

The other thing I do is ask for a state ID or driver's license to confirm residency status; and I do ask if the potential buyer is prohibited from buying a firearm.youd be surprised how easy it is to figure out if someone is lying about that! On a side note - I was a CBP Officer and during my time I've questioned 1,000s of people; if you ask someone I feel they've been arrested (and they say yes) but can't remember for what - they've been arrested more then once!

I don't want to put a gun into the wrong hands; so I do what I feel I need to do before I sell one of my guns. As someone mentioned, it's my property; but I don't want the responsibility of selling a gun to someone who shouldn't have one.

That doesn't prove anything beside the fact you have a piece of paper with somebody else's name on it.

I'm not going to waste a lot of time or energy on debating this with anyone Dawico.

I was once accused of stealing 55,000 rounds of ammo from the military. When two federal LE Agents knocked on my door to question me about that issue the first thing I did was provided them the Bill of Sale for them to peruse. End of discussion - last I ever heard from anyone about it.

Glad it worked out for you. That strategy did not work out so well for John Shipley. Bruce Abramski, etc.

I never knew the military sells bulk ammo to outsiders.

Glad the BoS got you off scott free. Or the fact that you didn't commit the crime.

Are you claiming the Bill of Sale showed where you bought the ammo or claiming it showed to whom you sold it? Because if the former, that would not be dispositive of whether you had stolen ammo from the govt. or not. If the latter, that would only show who your pigeon was, and that proves nothing regarding whether you ever stole any ammo from the govt.
