Alright so I have to get new insurance on my boat, but I don't have an engine right now, any of yall by chance have anyone that does boat insurance on odd cases? The boat isn't derelict, and has a brand new hull(couple years old) that's made above and beyond any factory hulls out there, it isn't lived on, and its in a protected marina. No expense was spared on the hull materials. The boats being refit, I'm just looking for an engine I can afford.

no tickets no accidents, records clean.

I've called no less than 45-50 companies the last few days and they wont help me out, all I'm looking for is $100,000 liability, most places do 300,000+. The worst part is its only $120-140 a year for liability insurance, but most companies have all sorts of ridiculous stipulations.

Seems like at this point I either need an angel that does insurance, or God to miracle me an outboard.

Probably doesn't answer your question, but I just purchased boat insurance, via USAA's website portal (which takes you to Progressive). Although the requirements for boat insurance in Arkansas, where the boat w/40HP motor is located do not apply to anything less than 50HP, went ahead and got the full monte insurance for $181/year/$250 deductible.
In the process of boat buying, I passed up an almost new 6HP motor that a good friend has on Lake Conroe. He might still want to sell it, so PM me and I can find out.

They won't insure you because you don't have an engine for it? Just curious. Not familiar with boating insurance regs. Is liability required by law?

What's the reason they won't touch it? Because it's not complete without a motor?

If that's the case, can you schedule it on your homeowners as property until you get a motor?

Have you tried Germania ,Don't know if they do boats but
I have had my house and car and truck with them for years.
They have been great to deal with.
I'll check them out, Thanks. I have options now do to having a motor(they don't have to know I'm in the process of mounting) I didn't think I'd be able to get one, but I was no joke miracled an outboard.
