So I should be getting the paperwork back on my M85 Pap so that I can finally SBR it. I am trying to find a gunsmith to swap the rear trunnion. I want to go the fixed stock route since I am not a fan of the underfolders or the easier hinge type setups (ie stormwerkz).

A gunsmith in Central Texas would be great but would be just as happy if they were in Houston/Dallas/San Antonio. Trying to keep it local to avoid shipping.

I called around a bit and wasn't successful with finding anyone to do the work.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was wondering who you ended up using? I know JBI is good but a bit pricey and a long wait. I am going to add a fixed trunnion to my M92 down the line and am in Dallas. Thanks!

Due to unforeseen circumstances this has been put on the back burner until now. I recieved my stamp last week so I am started to reach out to the places that were recommended and see what they have to say as far as cost/turn around time.

    Will update soon!

    Have a M92 pistol that I'm turning into a SBR and I'm having https://mygunsnorthwest.com/my-shop.html
do the work. He's also providing the trunnion and comes highly recommend from the AK files. $220/3 week turnaround.

I hadn't seen his website before, but once I saw his email I recognized him from akfiles as well. Matt Yeamans is legit and one of the better ak smiths out there. Not a bad price for the work at all especially with the trunnion.

Are you doing a fixed or triangle folding stock?

Going with a fixed Yugo stock of a M72. Everything I've read about his work has been great, I got a couple of quotes and he had the best price and turnaround.

The only quote I have received was significantly higher than what you were quoted by mygunsnorthwest. I think I will give him a call later.

I ended up dropping it off with Blackjack in Austin. Will update when I find the total cost and will share some pictures.

Anybody used Elite Guns in Austin? I never have, but I think they specialize in AK work.

So I got my gun back from Blackjack. They quoted 3 weeks but it was completed in 9 days. Got a bunch of parts in so they threw them on and it is all set! Better pictures to follow. Total cost of the rear trunnion swap...$100. The rear peep sight from Kypher Customs made a huge difference over the terrible factory sights.

Overall I am thrilled with the build. Blackjack did a great job for the price.
